What exactly do contractions feel like? I’m not sure exactly what to be looking out for. I’ve had some sharp sharp pains on my right side almost like period cramps but way amplified and they last for about 5 or so minutes but they aren’t constant. I have a very high pain tolerance so I’m not sure if that’s a contraction or if it’s her moving and hitting a nerve. They haven’t brought me to my knees or anything but they are definitely annoying lol.

for me, they felt like extreme tightness in my stomach and pain in my lower back. however, i found the contractions were the least painful part. so good luck! if your unsure, theres no harm going in to the triage to get checked out.

Keep an eye on it I have Braxton hicks and they are similar to that I’m 31 weeks. I’ve also heard that can be a sign of preeclampsia. Idk how far you are I would check in with your ob or midwife just in case because preeclampsia can be bad. Are you having any other symptoms

It may be a contraction. They didn’t hurt for me until I was on Pitocin hours in. It felt like a tightening in my belly all the way across and went in waves when I first went into labor

period cramps! the doctors didn’t fully believe me at first because i wasn’t screaming or crying but i didn’t throughout all my labor process. everyone’s different i also have a high pain tolerance but i remember they got really close together about 3 minutes apart. when i was having them 5 minutes apart i got sent home but i was back the next day and had my girl!

everyone said "you'll know when it's contractions" and it annoyed me cos how could that possibly be true
but honestly you'll know
it feels like a wave building and then breaking
the cramping contracting feeling builds to a peak and then subsides
I thought I was having a few times before I actually had my baby and when I was having real ones I was like how did I think those other times were it??
it's crazy but if you have to ask it's probably not contractions

Mine just felt like the achy period pains, but I also didn’t really feel any tightening when I had them, just the period type pains that came in waves, wasn’t exactly painful just more uncomfortable until I got put onto pitocin then it started to really hurt

For me they felt like my period cramps but worse, like even Tylenol couldn’t help me. I couldn’t move when I felt them and when they were over I could move freely

It feels like period but x10 times. When I had my first contractions I didn’t realise it, it was okey and more in back. With time this pain wave from back was getting to front, I understood it’s time go to hospital. When they checked me I was open for 3 fingers. Than pain was getting more intense. But I wouldn’t say it was very bad, didn’t make any screams. Maybe also have high pain tolerance😅

I was only able to feel mine after 8cm dilation, and even then they only felt like mildly worse period cramps than my normal. I only got an epidural because my dilation stalled and they wanted to try to relax my pelvic floor (I have a super overactive pelvic floor, I was in pelvic floor PT for years prior to pregnancy) which worked a little too well 😅
I think the experience is different for everyone, so it's hard to explain precisely what to expect. My sister said the only pain she had in labor was almost like lightning crotch from dilation, but my other sister said her contractions were super painful and more like sharp pains than cramping.
This is a potty shot scan pic from my 20 week scan - we had a private scan at 17 weeks and were told one gender. Fast forward to 20 week scan and we have just been told the opposite gender.
Would love anyone’s opinions on what gender we are having?! X

Am I wrong for being a bit upset? So right when I found it I was pregnant, before I even had a Obgyn visit…I was having pretty bad one-sided abdominal pain. I had went to the ER three times because of it. The first time I was diagnosed with pregnancy of unknown location, so basically a possible ectopic. I had gotten ultrasounds three times the first two times it was still too early to see anything and the third time I went they were able to locate the pregnancy in the uterus. I was around six weeks at the time they could see the pregnancy.Am I wrong for asking my OBGYN for an ultrasound? The Three ultrasounds I did get at the ER were only to confirm location and I didn’t get to see anything at all the monitor was turned away from me each time and couldn’t even ask questions as the ER doctor would explain what the technician seen the whole time. They said pregnancy was in the uterus but said the heartrate of 108 was a little low for that gestational age. and I asked my obgyn if I could get a routine ultrasound and they obviously seen the 3 ultrasounds on my mychart and said that they only usually do one and I won’t be getting one until 20 weeks. So because I went to the ER and got a bunk ass ultrasound I’m now unable to see how things are progressing at almost 9 weeks. I don’t even know if the baby is still growing. When I lived in Michigan before I moved and with my first child I got an ultrasound too many times to count. I guess I’m just disappointed

I'm having my c-section next week, after having had a natural birth last year. I'm not actually worried about the procedure itself, more about what to expect after. What would you say was the worse day, and when would you say you really started to feel better? Thanks so much!

Hey! I am 38 weeks and my baby is always very very active but today seems a bit less than normal. I still can feel him moving but less. Would you consider this a reason to call the triage?

Hi,
For mum mums that had cesarean section, how long did you have to use pain relief? I am 8 days post up, and I am still using pain relief cause I still have some pain.
