Time off work after recurrent miscarriages

How long did people take off work after multiple miscarriages?

I’ve had a couple of weeks of previously but this is my 5th and it really has hit me this time emotionally. I also had to have a D&C this time which I haven’t previously.

If I was to extend my doctors note this would be my third week. Is that too long?

I don’t think you can put a number on recovery. It’s both physical and emotional.

I had a missed miscarriage at 13.5 weeks, after having seen baby/heard heartbeat at 8 weeks and I took 2 weeks off. Physically I could’ve gone back after 1 but emotionally I wasn’t ready.

My second loss was 10.5 weeks but baby was only 6w5d. I didn’t take a single day off.

My third was a chemical and doesn’t even register on my loss radar.

So I think if you can, take as much time as you need. These things are so personal.

I’m sorry for your losses. 🤍

Not at all. I would expect that your employer would also suggest taking more time off if you need/ wanted as it is both mentally and physically taxing to go through a loss as well as the effect the sudden drop in hormones will have.
I am sorry you are going through this and hope you have the support you need.

Firstly, I’m so sorry for your losses 💕There isn’t a right or wrong here, every person and every miscarriage is different. Just take it week by week and see how you’re feeling, don’t let your job put pressure on you to forward plan and commit to a date you’ll be back

I had 6 miscarriages before finally having my little girl, I had anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months off with the losses and that was all dependent on my physical and emotional recovery which was very different each time. I had IVF which added a different physical element to the process but I was also a neonatal intensive care nurse at the time so my job within a maternity unit caring for pregnant and postpartum women alongside their newborn babies was very difficult emotionally, as well as the physical aspects of very long shifts on my feet

My 5th loss completely broke me, I was diagnosed with PTSD and was on the verge of having a full breakdown. This was when I had 6 months off work and properly put my recovery first

GBS Positive and Water Leaked

Hi everyone,

I’m 40+5 weeks pregnant with my first baby and looking for advice from anyone who’s been through something similar.

My waters started leaking around 9:30 pm yesterday (so around 3.5 hours ago from this post) and no further leaking, and the hospital has confirmed this with a positive swab test. I’ve also tested positive for Group B Strep (GBS) previously.

I’m not having any contractions or pain yet, and when the midwife examined me, my cervix was still closed and appeared dry.

The hospital is recommending induction because my waters have broken and I’m GBS-positive. I’m particularly worried about induction when my cervix is still closed, whether it will work, and the possibility of it eventually leading to a C-section.

I’d really prefer to go into labour naturally and have a vaginal birth if possible, but I also want to make sure my baby is safe.

Also, thinking to get discharged and wait for a day at home as long as it’s safe.

Has anyone experienced waters breaking before contractions started, particularly with GBS-positive results and a closed cervix?

Did you wait for natural labour or choose induction? How long did it take for your cervix to open, and did you manage to have a vaginal birth?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences.

Thanks in advance.

Almost time?

So at this point I don’t even know whats going on 🤣I am 39+3 weeks and had so many episodes of cramping/pains where I have thought this is it but clearly its been Braxton hicks as still no baby!
Yesterday I had bad cramping and pains for 9 hours from 3pm onwards, had urge to poop and lost thick discharge, and the pains did feel like they were getting worse and at one point it was too uncomfortable to even walk.. to the point I had everything ready to go and then everything just stopped again LOL.
Its my 2nd birth but tbh forgot what it felt like last time as I was induced and the whole thing was a blur as it was four years ago!

Anyone else been experiencing this?

Morning sickness

Hi! I’m 12 weeks 3 days and still dealing with morning sickness. I’ve tried actually everything and nothing works. Is anyone else in the same situation? 😭 Would love to connect with other people going through it or just someone with a similar due date (April 21st)

Normal?

I’m new to all of this as a first-time mom, and I’m only 6 weeks pregnant, so it’s still very early. I’ve been feeling pretty tired all the time, which I can manage, but I’ve also noticed that I’m becoming more irritable than usual. I feel like I need to poop more often, but when I do, it comes out in small, pebble-like pieces that is not hard. When I can’t go, I feel really uncomfortable and nauseous, although I never actually throw up. On top of that, I’ve been struggling to sleep. I keep tossing and turning throughout the night and waking up frequently, so I never feel like I’m getting proper rest.
