Is it normal for people to think about divorce and question marriage

My husband is an avoidant. He is really good to our 3 yr old and me when we are not arguing, but goes to his old habits of being defensive, playing victim and dismissing me when i express something which leads to arguments that last for hours.

3x in the past he has said he feels like he doesn't know if this marriage is right for us and if its better we don't continue (after intense arguments and he snaps) sometimes it takes him a few hrs, other times a few days as he feels emotionally overwhelmed and depleted and then he comes back.

Is this normal? To question marriage like this and speak about divorce? Im soooo exhausted in this marriage he is such an amazing husband and so many people have told me how lucky i am seeing how he treats me and our child. But he refuses to stay consistent in therapy and open up to me until we have an intense argument and we have many arguments that take ages as he shuts me down and leaves me feeling like im talking to a wall.

Marriage is not always roses. If he understands this all, ur questions will be answered . If anyone goes into marriage thinking they gonna have a perfect marriage with no argument or little quarrel, then i m sorry to say , you re not ready for marriage . That is why in the vows ,they say FOR BETTER FOR WORSE... there is no perfect marriage anywhere even if he decides to divorce u and get someone else.

I think it’s normal to feel like this on occasions when you have small children, me and my husband have gone through roigh patches however he has fairly good communication so we always resolve. I’ve been with an avoidant and Jesus Christ it was hard work. I’d probably recommend going counseling or something similar as from experience it’s so hard to move forward with issues with an avoidant without help

I am an avoidant myself, and I do the same after every intense argument. I literally think that this relationship is doomed, I regret getting together with this person and that it was a mistake and that it will never change. I start planning my practical exit starting from paperwork & splitting assets to how I am going to move out being pregnant and raise the baby on my own etc. It helps me calm down as if I am actually taking steps towards the only solution seemingly available to my dysregulated nervous system at the time. It’s an automatic neural pathway that activates as part of the avoidance coping mechanism - we simply want to run from the problem so that we don’t have to experience it! Once the nervous system calms down, I don’t have those negative catastrophising thoughts anymore, I don’t want to move out and things are fine again. It’s part of the flight or fight response. Clearly this is the flight option - quite basic if you look at it this way 😅

This is f**ked up🤦🏻‍♀️

My man’s constant comments about my postpartum body got my head f**ked up. At 24 yo I just had my second son in June 16 and am already down from 150 to 118 pounds and I’m proud of that…but my man (who’s very into fitness) is constantly telling me to go to the gym or sending me workout videos grabbing my tummy fat, whenever the baby’s relaxing he tells me to do squats or sit ups and even sending me A.I pictures of my body edited to what “it could be” he doesn’t see how much it messes with me even tho I say that’s not nice to say. I’ve been going to the gym 3x a week the last 2 weeks and a 2 mile walk daily with the kids sense 6 weeks pp like I’m trying but sometimes I’m just so tired… I’ve always been a very petite person and I know this might sound stupid but I feel rly anxious to just try and get back to how I was. Idk what to say to him because at the end of the day we want the same thing I just want to look in the mirror and pretty again🤦🏻‍♀️

How do I do this?

Devastated newly single mom. Trying to cope with this sudden change. Was a sahm and my husband is now with another woman after us trying for a long time to work out our marriage. He lied and cheated and hid so many things and even cheated before we were married and I didn’t know til years later he admitted it. I still tried to work on it through our church support system and pastor and it ended up all worse when it became more complicated and we had to physically separate he found another woman within a month and is with her now. I am having no contact with him now but just last month was talking to him daily. And still trying to work. He told me he had slept with her and he wanted to and was no apologetic or remorseful. We are dealing with a difficult divorce and custody issues now too. I’m alone with my daughter and not much family around. It’s killing me everyday I cry so hard and am barely coping.

Can someone reassure me that it’s okay if my toddler stops eating for a few days?!

She’s got a cold and a cough right now. Quite mucus-y, but I regularly use saline and try and suck it out of her. She has no temp and is perfectly fine in herself, except she keeps waking herself up 20-30 mins into her nap from coughing/vomiting and then she can’t settle again, so I guess she’s probably more tired during the day.

She has plenty of wet diapers and will poo at least once a day. Logically, I know she must be fine, but it is driving me mad when she refuses all of her usual favourite foods 😮‍💨
