Dummy questions!

After making it this far without giving a dummy, I'm finally caving (no judgement or questions please, just personal preference). Over the last month, my girl has started sucking on 2 fingers constantly to soothe herself and she's making them red raw. 2 people have told me recently that they think she cries more than the average baby and that breaks my heart thinking she's unhappy. So hence the decision to give a dummy... but i have a few random questions. Does your baby have access to a dummy all of the time, or just when you want them to start settling down? Do you find you're constantly waking in the night to put it back in before mouth if it falls out? I don't really want her to constantly have it in her mouth, ideally just to help soothe herself for naps and sleep. I understand there's a risk she might not accept a dummy this far along but with how much she loves sucking things, I think she will. I'm also however worried about creating yet another sleep association with it, as I am already pretty guilty of feeding to sleep

A dummy quite literally saved our lives! Our baby has it when she gets tired and uses it to fall asleep. If it falls out while asleep she doesn’t wake up and want it back in so only needs it to actually fall into a sleep. It’s used for comfort and to soothe for sure, it if helps you then go for it! Xx

I started using as a soother.. and now he wants it for comfort throughout the day. He does wake up at night to put it back in his mouth (all of my babies did) it's so annoying - I used glow in the dark ones as were easier to find 😊
But the dummy is defintely amazing and helps so much. There's a teether on amazon that's quite good also, it slots onto baby's hand - maybe try that aswell throughout the day💗

My boys use they’re dummies whenever they want them 🤷🏼‍♀️ Oscar doesn’t really care for a dummy he’ll take it on occasion but Dexter like his dummy when he first goes sleep then spits it out after and hour (not wanting it back)
My first born also had a dummy and was the same as Dexter is now, we completely took the dummy away from him at 10 months old with no problems

We were advised by our midwife to give a dummy from birth as it helps reduce the risk of sids. My lg doesnt like it anymore but theres nothing wrong with giving a baby a dummy for comfort.

Amelia only ever liked it for sleep but if she wanted it outside of sleep we would have given it.

Feeding to sleep is also completely natural. Please dont ever feel bad for that!!

Both of my little ones have had dummies only if they are upset or sleepy , once they fallen asleep, if the dummy falls out, I’ve always left it out so they don’t become too reliant on it. My son is 18 months and only has his for nap and bed time we are planning on losing it by the time he’s two xx

My baby uses her dummy to fall asleep or if she’s being fussy in the day it helps her calm down. She still sucks on her hands all day tho ahaha x give it a go x

Signs for non-verbal kids

My Lo (14m) is not really saying words, it’s mostly sounds mama, baba, gaah, cah, dada etc but won’t say words and squeals at things he points at.
He makes a few animal sounds when connecting them with a certain animal but my first was saying full words like mummy and actively pointed to 70% of her body parts when I asked
I only wonder as he has two cousins who are non-verbal and I’m slightly paranoid that it could be the issue or It is just me being paranoid…
What are signs to look out for from people with experience?

Newborn Feeding on the Go: Tips, Essentials and Recommendations

Hi mums! 😊

I have a 3 weeks old newborn and would love your tips on feeding when out and about for 3–4 hours, especially on public transport.

I’m mixed-feeding, so what do you recommend for carrying breast milk or formula safely?

Any must-have products, bags or essentials you’ve found useful? Please share where you bought them, with links if possible.

I’d love to hear what’s worked for you in real life. Thank you! ❤️
