Giving a bottle a day

I’m one month into EBF but I’ve realised I’m probably never going to get to leave the house without my baby for more than an hour or two for a very long time. Has anyone that breastfeeds started to give a bottle a day for a little more flexibility? If so how does this work? I don’t know where to start with this - I don’t want to mess up the breastfeeding as it seems to be going well.

It gets much easier once they’re over 6 months and eating too! EBF two babies neither of who would accept a bottle. Personally I’ve never wanted to be away from my babies while so tiny for long periods anyway but once they’re a few months old if you time it right you can leave the house without them in short bursts! I’ve been EBF for a month too now and I have started to pump in the morning to start building a small stash for when I’m out and to add a bottle a day so dad can feed him too. I haven’t introduced the bottle yet, I’m still pumping a bit more and I’ll add the bottle around 5-6 weeks I guess.
I pump in the morning when the supply is the highest and when I’m usually engorged so around 5-6am depending on when baby wakes up to eat, sometimes I did it at the next feed. I started by pumping only on one side as baby eats on the other but I read it can confuse the body thinking there’s 2 babies to feed and increasing the supply .. so I now wait until he’s done eating and I’ll pump the side he wasn’t on and if I used both breast then I adjust the time to pump on each breast. I don’t go over 15min and it takes me 2 pumping sessions to get around 120mL which is more or less what breastfed babies would need in a bottle apparently. I could pump for longer but again, not sure about the oversupply.

The lactation consultant in the hospital said it’s a good thing to start with occasional bottles by about 3 weeks because bottle feeding is a skill just like breastfeeding. My baby is also pretty much EBF besides these occasional bottles… we don’t do one every day… maybe 2-3 per week and we haven’t had any issues with the bottle or breastfeeding after. We use a Lansinoh extra slow flow nipple. I don’t use any mechanical pump… just a Hakkaa once or twice per day which keeps just in case milk in the fridge then we freeze if not used so I have a pretty large amount frozen for if needed

Afraid I never convinced my EBF baby to take a bottle and we’re at 4.5 months now. I’ve added a tiny bit of flexibility by having my mum come on some outings so I can feed her and then my mum can take her for a walk and a nap while I have a haircut/go to the dentist. She’s nearby if any issues but I get that bit of hands free time for as long as my baby can be without me.

No sleep routine

My 8 week old has no real routine. His dad and I split the night and take a shift each in different rooms and we’re really just muddling through responding to however he is that day/night. I know every baby is different but when roughly should we start a routine and what should it look like?

Speech

My boy is going to be 2 in less than 2 weeks now & still barely saying many words he says mama, dada, nana, go, no, makes noises of a duck & he has recently started saying mummy & okay but i feel that he is behind. Is there recommendations on what I can do to improve this? Does it seem like he is behind?

Pumping

So I’m not with my baby rn . My first born is currently in the hospital so I had to leave my almost 3 week old with her grandmother but I’ve been pumping since I haven’t been with her. Last night my last pump was at 10 pm and I was supposed to get up at 1 am to pump again but I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep since my son has been in the hospital so I slept thru my alarm and didn’t get up till 4 am I started pumping about 4:15 ish. Is it okay that I went that long in between pumping or should I try to power pump ? I make more than what my baby needs. She was drinking 1.5 ounces we just pushed her up to 2 ounces around 8pm last night but a typical pump I make about 3.5 ounces sometimes more

I have large boobs and can’t get a latch!

Baby is 5 days old, my boobs are massive, haven’t been able to establish a latch at all, have had to express my milk and use a bottle (I know bottle is easier for baby than boob) is all hope lost for them to ever latch? :( he cries and cries when my nipple is in his mouth and just won’t latch.

Is anyone else struggling with this postpartum? 💔

Is anyone else struggling with this postpartum? 💔

I don't know if this is postpartum anxiety, emotional exhaustion, or years of hurt finally catching up with me. I'm just trying to understand if anyone else has felt this way.

Lately, I've been spiralling over things my MIL said to me almost four years ago. Things that happened years back, but somehow, my mind keeps bringing them up as if they happened yesterday.

I have the awareness to know that I'm spiralling. I know I can't change the past. But I feel like I have absolutely no control over my thoughts.

I keep replaying conversations, remembering how certain things made me feel, thinking about what I should have said, and wondering why those words still have so much power over me.

And the hardest part? I feel incredibly alone in all of this.

My husband has gone to work, and I find myself sitting with all these emotions, feeling like I have no one truly in my corner. I'm postpartum, I'm struggling, and I'm tired of having to be strong when all I really want is to feel understood and emotionally supported.

It's frightening how something from years ago can still hurt this much. I'm exhausted by my own thoughts, and I don't know how to make them stop.

I'm not looking for advice to forgive, forget, or simply move on. I just want to know if other mothers have experienced this — old wounds resurfacing postpartum, overthinking to the point of feeling physically overwhelmed, and feeling alone even when you're not technically alone in life.

Has anyone else been through something similar? Did postpartum make unresolved hurt feel much more intense? And what genuinely helped you get through it?

Please be kind. I'm reaching out because I need to know I'm not alone. ❤️
