Montessori school experiences???

The child-centered, community and psychological preschool model is appealing, but the cost is $2400/month. Any feedback?

We haven’t taken this approach because my son is autistic and isn’t ready for school yet, but we’ve found it appealing as well and know people whose kids seem to be thriving in it.
But it really just depends on what your goals are for your kid/what you’re hoping they’ll get out of it, and your monthly budget to determine if that tuition is worth it.

I have 8 years of daycare experience with half of that time spent in 2 different Montessori schools, and they are honestly a rip off. Many preschools already follow a Montessori-adjacent structure just because many of the principles are intuitive. On the contrary, Montessori schools don't always follow guidelines to a T either

My daughter had the opportunity to go to same montessori school that I went to and it absolutely thriving.

I guess it depends on the actual school and teacher. My daughter went to Montessori and totally thrived there. Her teacher was amazing.

My 11 year old has been in Montessori since 3. She’s doing very well. Super independent, eager to learn, leader type personality, definitely a go getter and goal seeker. However her school is completely free through the county. It’s lottery based here in my area and thankfully she got it. I’ve been telling as many moms out there of babies so that they can get their kid in

And yes she learns everything and never say ok that’s enough. You’ve learned enough. No they keep pouring more info into them and never stop them from learning more. You have the same teacher for 3 years so it’s easy for the teacher to advance your kid if they show interest in learning more. My daughter was doing kindergarten work in pre-k and had been reading since she was 4. I bought all of the books and different things they use in school for home and she would work with that. Now she’s in 6th grade and in honors classes.

It varies a lot. My nanny went when she was a kid and hated it. My friend’s son loved it.
We visited one when we were considering it for our then almost 2 year old son. We get it’s a feeder school for one of the top private schools but half the kids were still in diapers and they required all day Mon-Friday school for all ages starting at 2. When we got to observe the class they were put on their personal assigned towels on the floor to silently do puzzles on and when finished they brought it to the teachers who would nod and give them another one while another teacher rotated pulling one kid at a time to either go to the bathroom or do a diaper change. They don’t believe in praise. It was a 2 hr daily activity.
Both the dads who were observing called it baby jail.
Both our families chose Waldorf instead.

Valid reason to question nursery staff?

Hello, I’m just wondering how other mums would react to this.

I picked our son up from nursery today and was greeted by his key person who told me he had a great day and told me what he had been up to, I then spoke to the nursery manager very briefly, pretty much just small talk. After speaking to those two, probably about 20 minutes in total, I walked to another part of the nursery to get our sons shoes & bag and bumped into another nursery worker who we rarely get updates from and it was only then that I was informed that our son had fallen on his face and that’s why his faced was bruised (I had assumed the bruise was his cheek flushing due to him being out in the cold). I was a bit taken back that I found out so casually and just by chance so I basically just said I’m glad he was okay & that he took it well (she had mentioned he was only down for a short time before he was back up & playing).

My biggest issue with this is that if it wasn’t for me bumping into this other nursery worker, we wouldn’t have known that he had a fall. This is also the fourth time he’s had a mark left from an injury at nursery and I know these things happen, but surely we should be getting updated about what accidents he’s had during the day?

We don’t want to overreact but we do feel like saying something tomorrow at drop off as it’s just not sitting right with us.

What the fuck is going on?..

My daughter is almost 4 months old and every day is getting really hard, she went from being happy and smiling a lot to being grumpy and screaming for no reason. Her feeding is all over the place and she refuses to nap - will only sleep when she’s so tired she just drops off..

Trying to settle her is becoming so difficult no matter what I try, she just seems whingey all the time and I can’t keep her happy for long. All I want to do is help and I don’t know how.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it just a phase? How long will this last? What can I do to help?

School query

We are fortunate to be in a position where we have 3 schools my little girl could get into for reception. However, most of her nursery friends are going to one particular school. I liked this school, but just preferred another of our choices. I’m just worried about how upset she’ll be for not going with her friends. Has anyone been in a similar position?

Am I a bad Mom if I don't like staying with my children?

I have two children, one who is 3 and a half and one who is 6 months old. We just moved out of state, and before the move, I was working full-time while both kids were in daycare. I wanted to stay home with them and go to school, and I had this picture in my head of doing activities, teaching them things, and enjoying this time with a few hard days mixed in.

That has not been my reality.

My 3-year-old will not stop asking me for things. I go from one need to the next all day long, and I haven’t even had a chance to unpack. I barely have time to make myself food or get enough sleep. My 3-year-old has decided he doesn’t need naps anymore, and then he’ll intentionally wake up my 6-month-old just because he wants to. His behavior has been awful lately, and he doesn’t listen, even when it’s something important, like not running up and down the stairs. He questions everything, and I’ve gotten to the point where I’m yelling more than I want to.

I’m struggling. I’ve looked into daycare at least once a week because I’m so overwhelmed, but I genuinely want to make staying home work. I’m just so unhappy right now, and I feel like I’m failing at something I really wanted.

Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone been through something similar and found a way to make it work?

Feeling like a single mom when you're not

Anyone else a stay at mom, but feel like you're also single when you're not? My partner thinks that because he works he doesn't have to do anything else. The man is a trash man, yet I have to take out the trash. I do all of the kid stuff like doctors, school, bath time ect. He thinks that his job is harder than mine and it's always an argument. We don't drive and my daughter's school is a mile away and it doesn't offer transportation. I walk 4miles mon-thurs to get her back and forth to school, plus my son walks with us and catches the bus half way there. That's only the jist of it. I am also doing all of the cleaning and cooking. Am I being dramatic or is this normal? Like just because he works and pays the bills, I literally do everything else. Please tell me I'm not alone
