I am an advocate for no medication, but medication and talk therapy were the only two things that saved my PPD.

You need to find another doctor! And reach out to a therapist

I would see if you can find a hormone specialist. Maybe your progesterone hasn’t bounced back. I was on meds for over a decade before I started hormones, now no meds and I’m mostly fine

Have you tried taking vitamin D or saphron. Those are both proven to help with mood and focus

Definitely get a therapist and know that you’re not crazy!

I know the feeling. I had PPA so bad after my 1st baby. Followed me into the 2nd pregnancy and postpartum too. I was able to switch to a different provider, she was. Certified Nurse Midwife and specialized in Perinatal Mood Disorders. She did my therapy sessions and also adjusted my prescriptions. I told her my goal was to get off of meds & just be in therapy. I felt crazy on some meds. Switching the right medication was helpful. I was able to get off completely about 6 months later and haven’t needed them since. I had 2 more babies after that and no PPA/PPD since. You can do it. You’re not crazy for advocating for yourself right now when things feel heavy.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! There are support groups on HeyPeers.com that might be helpful. I recommend Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance, and I think there are mom groups too. Most are free.

I struggled with PPD / PPA for 7 months before I found something that helped. Not sure if your provider has considered Zurzuvae but it saved my life, no joke.

Hi 👋 definitely try to find resources and mom friends during this time and getting out of the house with your lo as much as you can.
Maybe baby/toddler groups at a local library, small walks and going to a park. We have a planned parenthood type center in our town that offers parenting classes, I go, not because I need to learn how to parent, but I go for something to look forward to in the week that I can take my kid to where I can connect with other people/moms. I wish I had a bigger answer for you, but the little things do help 💚

I can tell you that suicidal thoughts with medications is a rare side effect. Especially depending on the type that you're taking. I personally am an advocate for medication after you've tried therapy and other interventions. Also it's helpful to keep in mind that no medication has to be permanent. You can ease yourself onto a medication and ease yourself off. It is 100% within your control. Best of luck to you, I hate that you're going through this and I specifically started a medication early after my postpartum to ensure that I avoided any PPD because of prior history.
I’ve been on here for a couple weeks now, haven’t made a single friend. I’ve talked to a couple other moms but either been ghosted or don’t get passed a how are you. Messaged several ads to join group chats, no one responds? Did this app fall off or what?

I’m 8 weeks postpartum. Mamas who run, what did you do to ease back into running? I deferred my October half marathon to next year but still did the one mile that was part of the challenge (📸☺️) Per my doctor I walked it since I haven’t been doing any specific exercises to prepare my body for the impact of running again. I am walking daily and last week resumed weight and strength training. Looking to hear from others about run prep you did postpartum.

Just wondering if anyone is either separated/divorced but is still currently cohabitating with their ex? My husband and I recently ended our marriage but we're still cohabitating and coparenting. At the moment neither of us can afford to move out. Things are tense and messy at times. I have a lot of mixed emotions but can't talk to him about them. I'd love to chat with someone who can relate.

He Knows I don’t want too. I feel bad because he’s really struggling with it but every encounter of intimacy he has to turn sexual and it’s literally making my skin crawl 🙃 so we literally never have sex and I don’t even wanna kiss him

Has anyone else experienced friends sort of disappearing since having their little one?
Everyone has their own lives, and I can appreciate people giving me space while I navigate motherhood but my little girl is nearly 13 weeks and my closest friends have seen her once. I don’t ask them to come and see me and I’m happy to make the journey to meet in the middle, but something as straight forward as a text message seems like I’m asking for too much. I feel like I’m constantly trying to make the effort and message, and very rarely get anything back - when I do, it’s very basic and I don’t feel as close to them as I did.
I just feel like I wasn’t prepared for how something as wonderful as having my little girl has affected my friendships. I’m the first person around me to have a baby, too. I feel very lonely with it all and I don’t want to keep irritating my friends by trying to reach out to them.
When I brought it up to one of them, she said it was because we don’t see each other as much as I’m on maternity leave but I always think that if we were as close as I thought, it wouldn’t matter that I wasn’t at work.
I suppose in a way this is mostly just me ranting and seeing if anyone else has experienced this. I’m trying my hardest as a new mum so having this weigh on my mind is exhausting 😅
