Am I wrong for being upset that my husband wants to leave me and our newborn?

My husband recently found out his mom’s visa to visit us from another country was denied. I suggested we save money and plan a trip to visit her after the baby is born and I’ve recovered.

A couple of hours later, he TOLD me (didn’t ask or discuss it with me) that he plans to use his paternity leave to travel to see her for 1–2 months, starting 2–4 weeks after our baby is born.

I’m devastated because instead of being home supporting me through postpartum and bonding with our newborn, he plans to be in another country. I would completely understand waiting until the baby is a couple of months old, but I feel blindsided and disregarded.

Am I wrong for feeling this way? What would you do in my position? I genuinely want honest opinions. Looking for some advice or suggestions

No you are not wrong for feeling that way during the newborn phase especially that early on he should be there to support you and the baby. You and your husband are one his mother is not in the immediate family that’s you your husband and the little baby you are bringing into the world he shouldn’t be putting his mother before the family that’s he’s creating you guys come first not the other way around. What he should do is wait till you recover and you all feel comfortable with traveling together

Woahhhh. I’d raise hell. I’m so sorry you’re going through this girl. You’re absolutely NOT in the wrong. You and your baby should be his #1 priority now. I agree with you completely

I’d feel the same way! How long has it been since he last saw his mom? One or two months sounds like a really long time visiting her. Maybe a week or two at most.
In any case, when a baby arrives, we need so much support. Between the lack of sleep, the frustration, and all the hormonal changes, postpartum can be really overwhelming and even depressing, especially when you’re going through it alone. I wouldn’t be happy about that either, especially because postpartum is a time when we need all the help and support we can get. What a blessing that he has such a long paternity leave, though! ❤️

Companies should have some kind of process to ensure that paternity is used to actually care for the baby and not to have a vacation. The audacity men have is unlimited

I definitely would not be ok with this unless she's dying

You should give him an ultimatum. As sh*tty as it sounds. He clearly needs the wake up call and has forgotten that he is a big boy now. I understand thats his mom but he needs to get his priorities straight and you dont have to tolerate it.

Getting back to running

I’m 8 weeks postpartum. Mamas who run, what did you do to ease back into running? I deferred my October half marathon to next year but still did the one mile that was part of the challenge (📸☺️) Per my doctor I walked it since I haven’t been doing any specific exercises to prepare my body for the impact of running again. I am walking daily and last week resumed weight and strength training. Looking to hear from others about run prep you did postpartum.

PPD

My PPD has been consuming me. This has been going on for about a year now. The providers I have spoken with go right to medication. I, personally, don’t want to take something where the side effect list includes “suicidal thoughts”
When I talk to family, they shrug it off.
Constantly hearing “oh that’s normal, it’s just your hormones.”

Curious.. if you have sex with your partner when you don’t want too because you barely had it in months and post partum. Is it bad that he almost guilts you into it? He feels uncomfortable if he knows I’m uncomfortable but deep down

He Knows I don’t want too. I feel bad because he’s really struggling with it but every encounter of intimacy he has to turn sexual and it’s literally making my skin crawl 🙃 so we literally never have sex and I don’t even wanna kiss him

Contraception

I’ve currently almost 4 months post partum, already have a nearly 2 1/2 year old. I was previously on the pill ( no break) it worked really well for me and I didn’t have a period, I don’t want to go back on it I don’t want to forget to take it as my brain is so busy now I probably will.
I have had my first depo injection to try it as another option but I already hate it, I think it’s making my hormones go all over the place, I’m having really bad mood swings, feel very stressed etc ( I know it also could be post partum) im also on my 10th day of my period with no signs of it stopping and I’ve never really had an issue with my periods being this long before. I’m confused with all of that and where my hormones are at the moment!
My question is, what’s other people experience with the depo injection during post partum time and what are people’s thoughts on the implant and the coil, im not keen on the coil personally but would still like opinions ☺️

Lonely and curious! - rant/advice

Has anyone else experienced friends sort of disappearing since having their little one?

Everyone has their own lives, and I can appreciate people giving me space while I navigate motherhood but my little girl is nearly 13 weeks and my closest friends have seen her once. I don’t ask them to come and see me and I’m happy to make the journey to meet in the middle, but something as straight forward as a text message seems like I’m asking for too much. I feel like I’m constantly trying to make the effort and message, and very rarely get anything back - when I do, it’s very basic and I don’t feel as close to them as I did.

I just feel like I wasn’t prepared for how something as wonderful as having my little girl has affected my friendships. I’m the first person around me to have a baby, too. I feel very lonely with it all and I don’t want to keep irritating my friends by trying to reach out to them.

When I brought it up to one of them, she said it was because we don’t see each other as much as I’m on maternity leave but I always think that if we were as close as I thought, it wouldn’t matter that I wasn’t at work.

I suppose in a way this is mostly just me ranting and seeing if anyone else has experienced this. I’m trying my hardest as a new mum so having this weigh on my mind is exhausting 😅
