Anyone else feel alone as a special needs parent?

I have two boys, 5&6, and both have severe autism & adhd. Im so exhausted all the time, my husband is around but he never helps and is cliff notes involved basically.
I have gotten some time to myself after I get the kids to school but i feel like the majority of my time is spent waiting and anticipating everyones needs over myself. I miss being able to dress up, and do my make up, i miss having friends and going out, or enjoying hobbies with others :/

I have one daughter with autism and two other girls who don’t and it’s a hard road you have to find some time for yourself if you can you need to get out I know that’s hard when you feel like you are the only care taker

I feel alone all the time. I also miss getting dressed up, coming and going as I please. One thing that helped me is joining a group for moms who have disabled kids. We meet once a month. Try to find an organization in your area that offers meetups or virtual meetings for parents. It’s nice to talk to someone who knows exactly what you are going through.

Do you have a village so you can still get out and do things you want to do?

I get that. My son has so many appointments, and I have appointments since I’m disabled, and my husband doesn’t help much as he’s gone all week long for work and even when he was home didn’t do much of anything around the house. I have to coordinate taking a shower or zoning out because my son elopes and I can’t risk him disappearing. So I have mastered a three minute shower and can be in and out in a single song, but my hair doesn’t get washed. It’s exhausting and I don’t even know what I like to do anymore because I’d answer take a shower for 30 minutes, or take a nap if I was asked what I would do if I could do anything.

My partner said this to me today

For context we lost baby 20 weeks in Jan and this is our rainbow baby

I just feel like you’re only focusing on having a baby and nothing else. Like we need stability, career and a house. I was so stupid to trust what you said about you couldn’t get pregnant. Of course you could any time you have unprotected sex. That’s on me. I think you knew what you were doing. I just wished we’d discussed it first as a team not an ambush. This how it feels. Everything feels like it’s on your timescale with no plan. I do want these things with you but I do wanna sort out a plan first and be responsible

Why would you do?

hey bestie <3

21 & living in Georgia 🤎 Looking for a best friend, preferably another mom who understands the chaos of everyday life! I’m down for local or long-distance friendships. I love a good conversation, random texts throughout the day, sharing little life updates, and eventually making plans to hang out.

I’m a homebody most days, but I’m always up for getting out and doing something fun. 420 friendly 🌿 Just looking for a genuine friendship that feels natural, where we can be ourselves and actually stay in touch. 🫶🏼
