Formula feeding at night

Hey all, I was planning to mainly breastfeed but due to an emergency c section and a tonne of blood pressure drugs my milk did not kick in for a long time and we have had to buy ready made formula bottles.
As I've not prepped too well for this, any advice on how to do night time feeds? I've heard so many different things and ways for example "hot shot" method etc but wondered what is your night time routine? The idea of going downstairs each time to make a bottle is making me feel nauseous hahah

I took a flask of boiling water, bottles, rapid cool flask and milk already dispensed in a pot and made it that way, all in a basket next to the bed. I never did hot shot method I just made them up and poured the hot milk into the rapid cool as I had 2 x

We used to fill a thermos flask with freshly boiled water and had a Nuby rapid cool. I'd portion out the scoops of formula into a milk powder dispenser 😊 we had a little set up in the bedroom so it was much easier. We tried the hot shot method but it gave my baby diarrhoea so we never attempted it again.

If any advice get a basket and just have everything you need in it, I always got it all ready whilst my boyfriend was doing the last feed of the day and placed nappies and wipes etc next to it so I didn’t have far to reach or go as I also had a emergency c section! Saved my life the first few weeks, I will say you will naturally fall into your own routine with night feedings x

Hi, we used the pitcher method and have had no problems with it so far. You prepare the formula before hand and keep it in the fridge and use as needed. It can only last 24 hours in the fridge though. Having a portable fridge and bottle warmer upstairs will save you from going downstairs and counting scoops at 2am while sleepy and sleep deprived. Good luck!

We take a flask of boiling water, 3 bottles, formula prepped into a divider tub. Then we take 3 rapid cools. We make the bottle as normal in the mam bottle then pour the full thing into the rapid cool to make it drinking temperature. Of course then the rapid cools need cleaning and sterilising but we’ve found this is a lot better than the hot shot method xx

Any tips for getting my 9 month old to sleep through the night? He’s sleep trained and falls asleep independently, but still wakes up 3–4 times a night. What worked for you?

Non Speaking

My Boy just turned 2 in September, my concern is that he still doesn't have any clear words, he points and gestures like hands me his empty bottle or grabs things he wants but doesn't verbally say anything... His hearing is fine I know that, he barely gets screen time either and I am trying my hardest to verbalize everything I do or repeat words when he wants something.. anybody else got this problem or advice?🫠

Burping

My baby girl is 3 weeks and she’s breastfed . I’ve noticed when she doesn’t burp she spits up so I try my hardest to burp her . But when she falls asleep it’s kind of hard to get her to burp. What should I do ? Should I not worry about it or should I wake her to get her to burp

I don’t need a break from my baby, I need help with the laundry šŸ˜‚

Does anyone else have a MIL who insists on taking my 12 week old baby to ā€œhelpā€ you get a break? šŸ« šŸ˜‚

I know she means well, but sometimes I don’t actually want a break from my baby. I’m happy having him with me, and honestly, having someone take him away from me doesn’t necessarily feel like a break at all!

I’d much rather have help with practical things like cooking, washing up or laundry, but it feels like the main thing she wants to do is hold the baby. Sometimes I also get the feeling that she wants to feel like she’s doing her Nana duty, which I completely understand, but it can feel like her need to spend time with him gets framed as ā€œhelping meā€ when that’s not necessarily what I need. 🄹

I feel a bit guilty because I know she’s trying to help, but I also feel like people assume that because we’re new mums, we must constantly want someone to take our babies off our hands. Sometimes we just want support without having to be separated from our little ones. 🄹

Am I being unreasonable, or does anyone else feel the same? How do you handle it kindly without hurting anyone’s feelings?
