Questions for anyone who’s done a long haul flight with their little one. We will be doing part of it over the normal night sleep time for reference.
What to wear? How many layers/changes of clothes?
Should I take a sleeping bag? We have booked a bassinet (hoping they fit ok 🙈)

Yes we flew to South Africa at 6 months and going to New York next week.
Take layers, some flights are hot, some cold. Just make sure it’s all comfy clothes!
We didn’t use a sleeping bag personally but you could if you think it’ll help.
Unless baby is very little, I’d be surprised if they fit in a bassinet. Our boy is admittedly big, but was already way too big at 6 months. We’d have to fold him in half now 😂 they are small. Which airline? Some like BA have a chair for older babies, sort of shaped like a baby bouncer. My boy hated it ha. He just slept on me the whole flight x

I will be flying to South Africa next week. My boy will be 11 months.
Who did you fly with?
We are going with Qatar so it’s extra longggg 😭😭😭
I’m just dreading entertainment and him wanting to walk around and sleep because he doesn’t sleep well anyway

we went with BA. He was 6 months so not as mobile and we flew overnight both ways so he slept the majority of the flight. You might be surprised with sleep. My boy has been on 5 flights and always managed to sleep okay, it’s pretty good white noise and I guess the movement is similar to being pushed in a buggy
thanks! We are flying Qantas, he is slightly too long for the length of the bassinet but he’s quite weeny in weight so well under the 11kg limit, so I’m hoping I can just get him to squish up 😂
I’m doing it solo, so hoping he fits as otherwise it will be a long time holding him!
I figured layers would be best, it’s so hard when it’s a long flight as the temp will prob be up and down the whole time anyway. I’m hoping the general noise will help get him off to sleep for quite a bit of it.

Ooh, solo is brave! I’ve done short haul solo. Hope it goes okay. To be honest, I held him the whole way anyway and probably will do next week going to NY. He’s 11kg so after a while I just lose all feeling in my arms 😩😂
