What’s your thoughts on taking a taxi with a newborn?
My idea is for newborn to be in a carrier so she’s buckled into me, and I’ll have a seat belt on.
Really I wanted to find a taxi that I could put them in the pram and just wheel it in, but every taxi I’ve contacted has said no to that 😫
Journey will be 15 minutes maximum, but to walk is over an hour and we can’t get double pram on bus.

I don’t think the taxi driver will actually take you. They’re not insured for that.
More so it’s not really safe…

A black cab will let you roll in the pram. You don't have to ask, just order it and they'll let you.
If you're doing something other than a black cab, you can hold the baby in your lap or with the carrier, it's allowed for taxis. https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules/when-a-child-can-travel-without-a-car-seat
your allowed to take a child under 3 in a taxi fully insured providing they are on you or your lap.
oh ok, thank you. I need to try and find a black cap style taxi!!

I did not know this!! Thank you for sharing :)

Just be aware that if you are in an accident, your body will crush your newborns body between you and the seatbelt. Legal doesn't always mean safer.

of course but if we avoid everything Bc there is a chance that bad things are going to happen, then we won't do anything. We take the precautions we need to make sure we do the right thing and the safest way we can. It's hard and everything feels dangerous with a newborn.

I know the danger feeling and agree with what you have said. Personally for me the risk is too great when it comes to car safety. All it takes is for a person to travel this way and for one idiot driver not to look where they are going. If the taxi driver has to make an emergency stop it could be fatal for the newborn.
Yes we should take risks and not live in a bubble but when that risk means making a decision with such dire consequences then we as parents should protect our kids as far as possible.
I am not having a go at anyone on this thread. Simply giving the OP an opinion they may not have thought of and may or may not want to consider.
Have a great day all of you 🧡
