My LO seems to shuffle about as if uncomfortable on her back…if I roll her onto her side and prop a pillow behind her she seems to fall into a properly deep sleep. She’s only 5months and can’t roll yet. She’s in a next to me, and when I roll her forwards there isn’t room for her to end up face down.
I’m so paranoid about SIDS that I’m worried this is incredibly unsafe, but she seems so comfortable in that position!

It is still unsafe, but it’s up to you

It is definitely not safe. If she were rolling to her side on her own it wouldn't be so bad but the cushion could be a suffocation risk as you don't know how she/it will move during the night. Please reconsider

I have my baby on her side often cos she won't sleep otherwise. I'm either next to her facing her in bed, or have a baby monitor on her

my 21 months old only slept on her front and her sides as a newborn all the way till she was 9 months and still does now and so does my 7 week old it’s the only way she’ll sleep, a few years ago it was ‘unsafe’ for babies to be on their back and now it’s okay…soo basically do what’s best for them and you as long as they’re safe and you’ve taken precautions that’s all that matters really in my opinion, hope that helps!

I’ve seen people roll up a blanket and put that there instead. My mum used to do it for naps with my baby as he always wanted to be held and it gave him comfort having the feeling of something touching him, otherwise he wouldn’t sleep. I think a pillow is a bit too thick/big but a small rolled blanket should be okay and you can move it away from her face x
