Not sure if this is just me but I am really struggling to get motivated to do anything except cuddle and look after baby and his needs. Baby is 6 weeks and settles fine in his moses basket/crib or pram so putting him down to do housework would be quite manageable when he naps, I just have no motivation to get dressed etc let alone clean! My issue really is the housework not being done is getting me down but I can’t find the motivation to do it so feel like I’m stuck in a never ending cycle! My HV told me not to worry and make the most of baby cuddles and that looking after baby means I’m not doing nothing but I also have 2 dogs in the house so even if I’m not making a mess they are still moulting etc! Hubby works long hours and does alot of the essentials when his home like washing etc, as well as having baby whilst I shower etc so his doing as much as he can whilst his home. Sorry just needed to rant really and wondered if anyone else is feeling this way or similar?

I rarely get anything done don’t worry. The lack of sleep doesn’t help. But yes, it’s hard to find the motivation to do things.

I think it is normal. I get enough time to get dressed and feed myself and the pets, and if I am lucky, time to do a load of laundry and unload/load the dishwasher. The rest is not doable at all most of the time. Sometimes when I get a bit more time, because it is the only time I get to sit down without a baby on me, I just sit staring into space with a cup of tea. It bugs me that the house is not as tidy as it was pre-baby, but also I keep telling myself that it is a moment in time so it is okay to leave the housework and it is also okay that I hate that fact the housework is left and I miss a tidy house. Basically I’m not chill about it 😂, but I do accept that looking after the baby is a 24 hour job x

The dog hairs, floors, washing and any other mess will be there everyday till the end of your days. The baby will only be a baby for a tiny tiny part of it! Sit back relax and just enjoy being a mum.
If it’s getting you down why not make a rota of things to do between feeds it’s how I keep on top. So my day starts at 6 with a feed and a cuddle when he settles i make myself and my other son breakfast, make a pack lunch, do the bottles, unload the dishwasher and load if I need to and get a load of washing on. If I have a chance I sweep the kitchen floor. All the jobs are in the same room and can be done pretty quick i then leave the rest. Next feed I do I sit feed and cuddle then when settled I hang the load of washing fold up dry washing and put in the basket to go up straighten the sofas and remove stuff that shouldn’t be in the room, empty the bin and run a cloth nicer then table or sweep the floor just tackle one area at a feed and race yourself to get a longer rest st the end !!!
