I live with my bf and my almost 4 yr old little girl…with a full grown toddler and a full grown man to feed I find myself spending up too $600 a month on groceries! I would love to cut my food bill in half or at least no more than $400 a month but I have to buy snacks for the baby and juice boxes also other food she likes to eat and I since told my bf to eat less and he has been because he was eating a lot…but I still find myself running out of salads and fruit because we are both trying to eat healthy and lose weight…any advice on how to save on food?

Girl if that is all you are spending on groceries you deserve a prize

Around 3k

omg really? Wow I see you have a LO and are pregnant too and yes men eat a lot! And Yes it can be up to $700 but I delete a lot of stuff from my cart lol

wow I see you have mostly all boys! I feel for you mama!

I mean looking at what you're saying you *need* to buy there's cheaper options. So instead of juice boxes a jug of juice will cost the same but you get more than double the amount, especially if you water it down. But $600 is pretty average for 3 people. Groceries aren't cheap anymore.

We are family of 3 plus our dog. Spend on groceries around 1300, sometimes more. But I must say, I could have reduced that bill if I really took an effort. Some of the food I buy is expensive and not essential (like peeled pomegranate seeds, calamari salad etc).
Your grocery spending looks like very much on a budget and it’s good.

That's pretty good what your spending but if your looking to save only buy what's on sale for the week. Pre plan all your meals weekly so your not wasting or over buying, and don't shop on an empty stomach lol.

I’m not sure how much we spend but yeah we have a LO and I’m guessing we spend about $900 monthly. Inflation is crazy girl

I try to buy stuff when it’s on sale. But of course fruit and vegetables are never on sale so I make sure that we are going to eat it all before they go bad.

900

I wish I spent 600 🥹

It’s just myself and a 5yo and I spend approx £75 a week on groceries as we eat a lot of fruit and veg and my son is ND so he has to have his safe foods available all the time.

We are spending $200 per week.

Family of 4, about £80 a week. Once every 6-8 weeks I do a larder cupboard top up shop which will be £160 ish.
Plenty of fruit and veggies, and making most things from scratch keeps costs down.

Why $600 how ? I have the same in my house but I spent at lease $800 and thats penny pinching I really don’t get anything extra .

I depends I wish it was 600 but it’s closer to 1k my husband is a truck driver so he isn’t home often but my son eats everything

The food we buy is on the pricier side because we don’t really eat pre cooked foods 😫a lot of basics I cook from scratch 97% of the time and inflation when he’s home well over 1k

$600!! 😦😱 just realised your based in USA!! 🙈The Grocery’s is much cheaper in England & we spend about £60 - £100 per week 🤔

girl so expensive $12 for grapes

yes I need to start doing that…I also started limiting my baby to 1 juice box per day and the rest is water

yes I used to splurge when I have food stamps I would get Manila honey and crab legs etc all the expensive stuff but now that I’m working I’m feeling the stress of having to spend my own money on food

ok I will try that thanks love

whew chile! And you have a growing boy and a toddler! I feel for you mama!

ohhh wow! And I know the quality of food is much better there too! In the US they are trying to unalive us

oh wow I wish!

wow you have a family of 3?

wow those prices are a dream!

I live in Georgia and I shop at Kroger occasionally I will do Sprouts or Publix but I stopped because it’s way too expensive

ohh do you eat meat too?

oooh in NY?! Wow unbelievable what about the farmers markets?

I spend almost $300 A WEEK )
( just for my partner and I) but I live in Australia and our supermarkets are price gouging and there is a bit crisis about it. It costs $10 for a 900g bag of cheese 🥲

yes! But only shop in specific places a lot of the times it’s local and they prices are sometimes doubled like a pound of chicken from a local farm is 25 compared to the store we go to sometimes it’s 12.99 for Mary’s chicken

yes Ny . They are more expensive

how much for grapes!!! 😱 that should be illegal!! 🤣 it’s like £2 here.. $2.52 so does that mean Grapes is like a special treat when you buy it & every bite is precious?? 😳

it use to be cheap now it’s between $7-$12 , milk is $8 a gallon , those small oranges in a bag $7

1. Price compare different stores. Some items can cost several dollars more at another store. We source our groceries from 6 different stores but it saves us money.
2. Buy certain items in bulk at wholesale stores- Costco and Sam’s.
3. Only get what you need that week- don’t stock up on everything. I was doing this and we were spending 1150 a month on groceries for a family of 4- I have special dietary needs and my hubby is vegetarian. But still. I cut our grocery bill in half by only allowing us to spend $150 a week. And we still have plenty of food.
4. Make meals with cheaper ingredients. Think rice and pasta dishes, ramen, sandwiches, you can still eat healthy. Just do healthier versions of the basics.
5. Grow your own produce. That will save a lot if you can do it. Produce is expensive. For some things we do canned- like corn, green beans, and peas. And we only buy organic the dirty dozen.
I’ll be making a whole post on this when my blog is launched! Hope this helps!

thank you love…how do you shop from 6 different stores? Do you drive there or order?

is it organic milk?

oh my goodness!

yes I buy the cheap frozen chicken for $6-$8 at Kroger I’m about to order some more food from there and I got 44 items for $222 bringing the total grocery bill to $656 for March but seeing all of yall mama’s food bill makes me feel like this isn’t that bad…also my man eats once a day most of the times so that helps a lot

so sorry to hear that

we don’t do it all at once. 1-2 stores a week. They’re all close to each other too like across the street from each other. My hubby does it. I load everything into the cart on the stores app so he has pictures. lol. It works for us. He’s fast. I would buy way too much 😂
A lot of items we get from specific stores are like once a month type stuff.

like $4+
