Packed states 4m+ on both baby rice and baby porridge (C&G brand) but do they need to be able to hold their head up independently before you can feed them this or not?
My LO is 4m this Sunday and I would like to introduced a little bit of “food” into her daily feeds, but don’t want to rush a process either if she’s not technically really for it.

Yes they should for any food

Yes they do - also check for tongue thrust reflex, if they push their tongue out when you put a spoon in they aren’t ready. Just wondering why you want to start introducing food so early? Obviously up to you but just worth noting that doing so before 6 months can lead to digestive issues later in life x

Packets just state 4m for more money it’s best to start at 6 months following guidelines, baby should definitely be able to hold head because this is a big chocking risk and also baby should be able to sit assisted or completely on their own x

I understood it should be 6 months before introducing any food and so wasn’t planning on doing anything before that, but seeing on the packet it says from 4m made me think it could be ok to do so now. However, based on what you guys are saying she is nowhere near ready and so will shelve the idea for sure, thanks. ☺️

My little one is 4m and she has the baby porridge from c&g and loves it she only has one teaspoonful and then you dilute it to your preference with cooled boiled water but she absolutely loves it same with some fruit puree pouches that are available from Ella’s kitchen for 4m - you know your baby best and you know what’s best for her - my little one keeps trying to take my food and tries putting her hands in my dinner and lunches hence why I started introducing porridge and fruit puree, she doesn’t have them every day and she still has her routine feeds as normal as well - each baby and parent is different but from my experience my LO loves her porridge ☺️

Also, save your money and go straight for normal porridge. There's no nutritional benefits to the rice or baby porridges as you can amplify your porridge naturally with things like nut butters, small amounts of fruits, even veg. They are such a waste of money, and a marketing scam 😂
