Don’t do it, it’s way too early

My pediatrician also said to start cereal at 4 months! Eyeing this because I’m also a FTM. Our doc did say never to put it in a bottle though because it can cause them to choke and to feed with a spoon. To the consistency of it just falling off the spoon.

I agree. The doctor told me my baby was ready. But my baby was def not ready.

my son got the okay as well so im curious to know too

I also got the okay and was planning to try some this weekend. We were told to start with 2 spoonfuls.

I'm a FTM too and I just started cereal this week I just went by the package instructions for first foods. For the rice cereal it's 1 tbsp to 4-5 tbsp of breastmilk or formula it should be thin and runny. But he only "ate" a few scoops of food the first time.

Until they can sit on their own and have good upper body control, they really shouldn't have anything other than formula or breastmilk. My son's pediatrician said not until then, which will be closer to 5 or 6 months old. Also, your baby's digestive system isn't developed enough for anything other than formula or breastmilk until closer to 6 months. No one can fault you for following the advice of a pediatrician, but your baby may not be ready. This is my second, and my first did not start anything other than formula until 6 months.

4 months is fine. Nothing wrong just get ready to buy more clothes

From the research I’ve done and pediatrician recommendation, the adding cereal seems to be outdated and does not add any nutritional value. We wait until 6 months and sitting independently then introduce BLW

my ped also cleared my daughter to start real food and she told us to stick with 2-4 tablespoons a day and feed her the same food for 3 days in a row to rule out allergies.

Personally, I use Enfamil AR. It already comes with the added rice :)
