I’m extremely confused. I started off my journey giving mashed broccoli etc etc. and then also a stick of broccoli to hold and chew or whatever they’re supposed to do…..
I wasn’t too sure if this was working as the broccoli wasn’t purred just extremely smashed and he dealt with that fine I think but what I really can’t wrap my head around is if he chews off a bit of the broccoli I’ve given him in his hand, do I just let him swallow it? Because he doesn’t chew it and I don’t really expect him to either but he can’t decide how large his bites are at 6 months nor even knows he’s biting anything off so is this how it’s supposed to go?
For how I’ve started giving him purées but how do I know if the piece he bites off in his mouth is too large or not. I just don’t get it. He barely swallows his purees as it is. Am I doing this right?
What I’ve attached here is an example of what feels like the hundreds of meals I’m seeing parents give there 6 month old baby’s as some of there first meal ideas. How on earth is a 6 month old eating this.

Hey i felt the same and every time I've given "finger food" he chomps the end off and tries to swallow it and end up choking so fair to say I only tried a few times before thinking never again..... so now I'm also doing mashed foods and cerelac my plan is to just gradually make it lumpier untill he gradually learns to chew I've also been giving those baby wafers tht melt in the mouth which u buy from store I only give wen he's super grumpy and not due a feed but I found if he did it himself he choked but if I hold and and don't let too much in his mouth at once he's now started i guess gumming it aka chewing it so hopeing he will learn that way aswell
