Just looking for advice. My boys 8 months old, and I’ve started introducing finger foods. He’s very interested in them But he’s always choking! He was doing okay with things like toast and melty puffs but suddenly he chokes on everything like toast, soft parts of the cucumber, had a really scary incident where I didn’t think I’d get it out with some baby biscotti snack! Choked on a singular pea today as well. Has anyone had this experience? How do I go about this? It’s super scary and making me feel like im the problem. Also I know they say red & coughing let them get it out but it isn’t that kind of choking! He makes no sound, looks like he’s trying to gag and can’t, starts to change colour and very obviously can’t breathe. The last incident he even had tears streaming.

Have you tried something like mango pit with a bit of the fruit on? Look up ‘food teethers’ (not the mesh popsicle things but where you use real food to encourage baby to taste and map out their mouths without there being much intake) as it sounds like maybe he’s struggling to understand what to do with things you actively have to chew or soften yourself x
