I worked in schools for 9 years, loved it, but 1 teacher made it horrible and I decided to change roles. Moved into administration and been that role for 7 years. Been with my currently employer 6 years and promoted from admin to operational support

I'm the shipping department manager at a print shop. I wear headphones all day, pack and ship printed goods. It is very little stress, which is good because stress kills my giveashit really fast at jobs. I am really good at it and never expected it would be my favorite job. Maybe try something new and outside your current wheelhouse.... I was in customer service and always hated how stressful I found interacting "professionally" with people when I'm full of goofy energy and fart jokes, and I eliminated the stressful part by taking a behind the scenes role.

I love the work hours and summers off, etc. Helpful if you have little kiddos at home.

Could you change roles but stay with your employer? I don’t know where you live or what sort of organization your district has, but we offer positions at the school board level to help other teachers. We call them instructional program leads. But essentially you’d travel to schools as needed and help support teachers either making curriculum, adding in new administrative policies, etc etc.

Could you get a role not in the classroom? We offer guidance teachers and student success teacher roles that work more one-on-one with kids. No planning or marking needed. Just working with who show up that day and help them. Might reduce the workload.

Or move up to principal roles? I think it would be a different kind of workload. But might be a nice change from what you’re used too now. Also with your SLT background.

I work in university outreach! Go into schools to do sessions but its different everyday and you dont often see the same students multiple times.

Theres loads of different roles within uni administration that might be interesting with the experience you have. Student services and recruitment might be something to look into
