C section vs Induction - advice please!

So I’m really conflicted - basically, after finding out at 34 weeks my pregnancy is classed as high risk due to previous SGA baby (6lbs at full term), after having growth scans the past two weeks I’ve been told this baby is on 97th centile and I’ll either need an induction or a planned section, and I really don’t know what to do. My first labour was horrific, I was induced due to PROM and ended up in theatre with a forceps delivery, had sepsis, an episiotomy and lost a lot of blood - but my recovery was fairly fine. So now having to decide whether to go through that again, with potential complications of a ‘big’ baby (I’m still not sure I trust the growth scans?) I don’t know if to chose an elective section instead, but that of course comes with its own risks and longer recovery, and with a wild 3 year old and a dog I feel like it would be even more difficult! Has anyone been through anything similar, what did you decide and how did it go? Thanks!

Have they only suggested this because of a big baby on scans? Cause that's typically not a reason for induction or cesarean. I have big babies and they've never suggested that purely on size alone. The one time I had to be induced earlier than my due date was because I had other complications that meant going over my due date was risky. I've also had an elected induction after 2 urgent "inductions". I've never had any complications from their big sizes. How big are they estimating baby to be?

Haven’t been through anything similar so can’t really talk on that as I had two successful inductions that I would easily redo again if I had to, however if I was in your shoes and had an awful first one I probably would go for the planned section. I’ve heard so many horror stories from inductions but I’ve only ever heard good about planned sections x

I had an elective C-section and had a lovely birth. I was up walking 6 hours later and walking my dogs 2 days after. I got told I could be having a baby but he was 7 pounds 15, they was other reasons for needing to be induced or section as well. I wouldn’t change my birth experience ❤️

I was told my baby was big in the scans - he was born via C-Section after a failed induction and he was very much average 8lbs at 42w gestation. (It was classified as an Emergency but it wasn’t life or death emergency, I had time to take off my jewellery etc)

If it were me I would get the C-Section. Everyone is different but honestly the recovery wasn’t that horrific (however, I didn’t have another child to look after at the time so I may feel differently next time) I thought I would care about the scar but honestly IDGAF, my low rise bikini days are far behind me and I kind of like it 😅.

The recovery from a planned c section and an emergency c section are very different too - they’re not ripping your baby out because it’s a life or death situation so you’ll find the recovery probably won’t be as bad as what you’ve heard. My pain was pretty manageable after the first week with just paracetamol and ibuprofen and I was feeling pretty close to normal after 2-3 weeks.

I found out I had a ‘big baby’ at 37weeks. I was offered an induction but asked for sweeps before to help him some what naturally come along. I didn’t like the idea of induction so booked a c-section which I ended up not going for as I booked another sweep. I went into labor naturally the day after the 3rd sweep . My baby was 9lbs3. Only complication was his heart rate dropping during labor, all I did was religiously listen to the midwives when pushing😂 hope this helps x

I would honestly say if you’re ok with having a c section when they are planned they are so calm. I’ve heard so many positive stories and I also have a planned due to breech and was not stressful at all. Inductions on the other hand can still be lengthy and uncomfortable and you never know what the outcome could be for example deliver natural or still end up in c section for what ever unforeseen reason. I think if you’ve had a negative first labour the planning and knowing when your going in ect you can relax and enjoy a little more x

My son read off the chart on growth scans and he was born a perfectly normal 7lbs14oz. I've personally always said if I need to be induced I'd rather have an elective section though. The thought of the whole induction process puts me right off!

Induction for Suspected big baby goes against the NICE guidelines. So I would ask them to elaborate on their concerns

I’m a little scared

So apparently my baby boy is definitely bigger than normal and I’m short. It’s recommended I do a C Section for the health of my baby and for me as well. I’m definitely going to go through with it bc it’s safer for the both of us but I’m honestly incredibly scared. I have mad respect for mothers who went through a C Section it’s a fear of mine to be awake while I’m being cut open. Anyone have any advice to prep or in general to ease anxiety at all.

Period like Cramps!

I posted a week ago just about having some period like cramps, every few days. I’m 37 weeks + 2, last night around 8pm I had an intense pain in my back for 1-2 minutes and could’ve cried at the pain🤣 it then vanished, went to bed and woke up 4 times through the night with what felt like period cramping all across my pelvis, this is the most and consistent I’ve had it. I haven’t lost my mucus plug, no blood, water hasn’t broken! Could this be a sign that labour is close? Or is this just what happens? Thank you 🩷

C section recovery

Is a wedge pillow and shower chair absolutely necessary post c section? Well it have a major impact on help? I’m running low on all these recovery things and things for the twins but if recovery is that painful i’d like to know and i’ll spend on it anyway 😭😭
