Feeling deflated at the start of weaning

My nearly 7 month old just started weaning 5 days ago. First 3 days gave her broccoli. She loved it, first 2 days she had 2 spoons, and 3rd day about 10 spoons! Yesterday I started on butternut squash and she didn’t look amused but had a spoon or 2 forcefully, then today she also had butternut squash but was forced she had one spoon then every spoon I tried after that she didn’t want it. Is this strange considering she liked the broccoli but the butternut squash is more sweet and yummy I thought she would have enjoyed it. I mixed both with my breast milk.

If spoon feeding doesn't go well, try baby led weaning. My son had a lot more enthusiasm for that.

There is nothing wrong with that. Everything is literally trial and error at that age so please don’t be discouraged. Just continue to try different foods with different textures and different combinations of things. It’s all still new to her. She will figure out what she really likes. Just give her more time.

Also I got in a pickle too when my daughter wouldn't wean but at 7months I wouldn't worry so much hun, 😅 I ended up mostly bottle feeding my girl until 18months every child is different and I second Cory because finding foods they can eat them selves is a different ball game. Don't force at all it's supposed to be fun and obvs your doing great trying veg and a variety of options is good but at this age it's mostly about transition at there pace so whatever they try or you get in them is great! Honestly wish I had someone tell me all this. Everyone will tell you something different but do what you know is best! Mum guilt is real I feel you on that, your not doing anything wrong.
When they hit new milestones aswell (I found some things my girl loves one day she hates the next) 😂
It's all about getting creative ✨️
Food play is really good for development aswell
I felt some kind of way too in my first property because of mess and I had carpet which wasn't the greatest as any mess I was there cleaning 😂

They’re still learning, I really wouldn’t count spoons etc. They don’t understand what food ‘is’ and maybe we’re still a bit full, their stomachs are only tiny and just like their milk intake goes up and down so does their food.

Food before 1 is for fun, please don't " force" food into her.
Let her explore new tastes and textures, it can take up to 15 goes at something for a baby to actually try it and like it. So don't pressure yourself!

Broccoli and butternut squash are very different textures which can have a huge difference in something.

My daughter loved sweet potato at 7 months but hated carrot.

You also have to remember that it’s only a few days in so it is very new to her.

If you feel confident doing so, try a mixture. For example a solids finger of butternut squash and a puree of it.

Mt daughter loved having purées at the start but my son hated it and was always BLW cos he watched his sister.

Don't be discouraged. Like others have said it's exploration at this age. The food journey is one of the hardest parts. As they get older you spend a lot of time cooking and preparing food for them to love one day and refuse the next. So have low expectations and less pressure on yourself.

Right now they don’t need food for meals but just tasting and getting used to it so don’t keep track and beat yourself up he only had 5 spoons it does not matter if anything I’d say give him the spoon after like 3 you give then he can play and try to feed himself babies love being able to eat on their own and it’s a new big step

Babies at that age don't really have much "taste," they start to develop their own tastes later. Be patient. She will go through many phases of liking and not liking various foods. Weaning is a marathon, not a sprint, and it isn't over in a month. It takes years for kids to develop their own tastes. For now focus on trying new flavours, letting her explore and touch and taste, but low-pressure. If she's not into it, don't force it, you'll just create a negative association.

Baby won’t be held

Quick question as a first time mum, is it normal for your baby to scream when being held by other people? My baby is 4 1/2 months old never had a problem being held by other people and it seems like overnight she will only be held by me and my husband if anyone else tries to hold her or pick her up including grandparents who she sees very regularly, she will just scream and cry and it takes me awhile to calm her down. I’m really hoping it’s just a phase but I don’t quite know what to do to get through it or if there’s anything I can do to be helping the situation it’s frustrating for us because it means we can’t hand her off to people to have a rest! but it’s also I’m sure frustrating for her grandparents who can’t hold her or have a cuddle with her. It also gets very awkward when they ask if they can hold her and all I want to say is no because I can see what’s about to happen…..

Childcare

My mum looks after my kids two days a week for me. One is in school so it's just for an hour after school the other is pre school age. I use a childminder two days a week and I have one day off a week. My mum initially offered to help me but now all she does is complain. She is also very demanding, expects me to drop things for her at the weekend, buy her coffees and food when we are out and never says thank you and just moans about every aspect of looking after my kids. I've said I'll start using the childminder more but then she says no. I'm really confused as what to do. Has anyone else had a similar experience? We don't get free childcare here because we are in Wales. Thanks

Excuse

Would it bother anyone else??🤣🤣🥲
My mil and sil, at their own fault, had to drop something over to our house the other day before they went to work, for my partner. Due to this, they were 5 mins late for their shift. Instead of just making up an excuse like there was traffic, they told their boss that they had to rush over to our house because my little one had hit her head and was injured, which was very much not the case!🤣why say that? Weird behaviour, right?🤣🤨they thought it was funny as they told me the next time I saw them. I think this is a regular thing, I know they’ve used excuses from our little one for work things before.
Bearing in mind, they make no effort with her/us, so them helping with anything isn’t in the picture anyways.
Happy Sunday yall🤣😅

Any advice appreciated

I feel like I have failed as a mum, at the moment, my son is quite angry for example, when I pop him in the buggy to make his food ( currently have a grain mites problem so putting him on the floor isn’t a good move, he will mostly be on the floor and playing otherwise) , he’s screaming at me as if he’s in pain(he’s not) until I pick him up, sometimes I put Bluey on to calm him down, but that doesn’t always work, at the moment I’m putting Bluey on at meal times because he is such a wiggle worm he won’t stay still or eat unless it’s on , I wanted to use the gentle parenting approach, but there is last week has been so difficult. He’s been pulling my hair and it feels like means to do it, out of pain I had a go at him and walked away, I felt so bad for shouting since he doesn’t know better , he’s been screaming, He’s been getting angry, He’s been missing one of his naps almost every day, it feels like Bluey is my coparent, speaking of parents his dad is constantly working and doesn’t take care of him for more than half an hour at a time so it’s just me and him.
two days ago I burnt out completely and got sick because of it I called my sister over and she’s been amazing and my dad took him for a walk yesterday whilst I cleaned but the living room is back to how it was before( a big mess) I feel like he’s angry because he’s watching some tv or I won’t let him eat dangerous things, he could also be tired but he won’t go down for his second nap! He’s 1 next Saturday, any advise or literally anything is helpful, could it be this age? He’s learning to clap and stand aswell

This is only a snippet. He is usually a very happy baby!
Thanks for reading lol

Moving on

Recently I've come to the decision to no longer allow certain behaviors that are for adults and children. Without trauma dumping, My son and I are in a recovery period. No one in our lives understand that. It's always get over it and you're still held up on it. When "it" wasn't over until November of last year. Through protection orders and not really having any guidance or village when it comes to us, I'm definitely paving the way for our outcome to be bigger than our downfall was. No one knows yet, but we are moving away from everyone we know and everything we know. Somewhere where we can start fresh and continue. We're not running and that's all everyone is going to see it as. I have my baby's childhood in my hands and I'm determined to make it as good as I can before he's older. I don't know if/when we will tell everyone where we are but for now I know and understand that we need to get right and start new.

Am I overreacting

Long story short my partner and I only get one day together every week which is a Sunday. He looks after our girl on Mondays while I work and then he is working the rest of the week (long hours and not home until 10.30pm most nights)

Last Sunday he went fishing all day Sunday, last night he sprung it on me he was coming with me today to a party as he’s going fishing again (left 3.30am and said he will be back for 2pm) it’s now almost 4pm and he’s still not back and I’ve not seen him since yesterday morning briefly before he left for work.

Next Sunday he is out again all day fishing with his mate.

At the moment I am extremely run down with a chest infection and just feeling like I’m being pushed to one side. I understand he wants to be able to do his own things too on his day off but I’m starting to lose my patience because I am so exhausted and the thought of waiting 3 more weeks until I can have any sort of ‘rest’ is killing me.

I don’t think he is taking my feelings or needs into consideration but perhaps I am being selfish in wanting a rest? It’s not helping that our girl is so full on at the moment (22 months) who also has a chest infection and going through a sleep regression waking multiple times a night 😩 I am exhausted
