Husband going on weekend away

Hi all, my husband is going on a weekend to France in a few weekends time to see his friend who lives there -Friday to Sunday. I’m really dreading it as our baby is just over 4 months and currently going through the regression and is super challenging at the moment. I’m so nervous to deal with it all on my own. I may go stay with his parents over the weekend or his sister may come see me for a night but I’m worried as my baby currently screams and melts down if held by anyone but me . I don’t want to be super negative and want my husband to enjoy his weekend but I feel so anxious and stressed . I don’t know whether to have his sister come stay with me for a night or go to his parents a 1 hour drive away to get a break …. As I said her current state means none of them will actually be able to help me as she only wants me ! If I go to his parents I get a change of scenery and have some support but am in a less familiar environment and plus she hates that car!! If I stay home then I’m in a comfortable environment and I’m n my own space but will only have his sister for support for one evening not his whole family …… Any advice ?

My husband is away on a stag weekend this weekend and I had a similar dilemma. I decided not to ask for family help as I couldn't be certain my in laws would actually help. Same with my parents. All would be happy to see the baby but I'd still be dealing with everything solo with the added pressure of entertaining relatives. The weekend is nearly over and we have managed fine. I found a baby activity that runs on Saturdays and stayed busy today so I haven't felt too isolated.

My hubby went away for 2 weeks and I had such a lovely time with my baby just me & him, so try to make the most of some lovely one on one time.

What is it that you’re worried about? X

I think we dont always recognise our strength and resilience until we are in that situation and often times its good to be thrown in the deep end and we soon see just how much we can cope.

Ive been there too.
Personally, just go with it and if you really feel its unbearable, then call the sister or get in the car but first see if you can manage.

And, note this down... if he goes away now, you can surely claim your own little get away ir spa break in the future at a time tou feel comfortable with leaving your child in capable hands and then you get a proper break for yourself!

You can do it mom! Good luck

Baby won’t be held

Quick question as a first time mum, is it normal for your baby to scream when being held by other people? My baby is 4 1/2 months old never had a problem being held by other people and it seems like overnight she will only be held by me and my husband if anyone else tries to hold her or pick her up including grandparents who she sees very regularly, she will just scream and cry and it takes me awhile to calm her down. I’m really hoping it’s just a phase but I don’t quite know what to do to get through it or if there’s anything I can do to be helping the situation it’s frustrating for us because it means we can’t hand her off to people to have a rest! but it’s also I’m sure frustrating for her grandparents who can’t hold her or have a cuddle with her. It also gets very awkward when they ask if they can hold her and all I want to say is no because I can see what’s about to happen…..

Childcare

My mum looks after my kids two days a week for me. One is in school so it's just for an hour after school the other is pre school age. I use a childminder two days a week and I have one day off a week. My mum initially offered to help me but now all she does is complain. She is also very demanding, expects me to drop things for her at the weekend, buy her coffees and food when we are out and never says thank you and just moans about every aspect of looking after my kids. I've said I'll start using the childminder more but then she says no. I'm really confused as what to do. Has anyone else had a similar experience? We don't get free childcare here because we are in Wales. Thanks

Excuse

Would it bother anyone else??🤣🤣🥲
My mil and sil, at their own fault, had to drop something over to our house the other day before they went to work, for my partner. Due to this, they were 5 mins late for their shift. Instead of just making up an excuse like there was traffic, they told their boss that they had to rush over to our house because my little one had hit her head and was injured, which was very much not the case!🤣why say that? Weird behaviour, right?🤣🤨they thought it was funny as they told me the next time I saw them. I think this is a regular thing, I know they’ve used excuses from our little one for work things before.
Bearing in mind, they make no effort with her/us, so them helping with anything isn’t in the picture anyways.
Happy Sunday yall🤣😅

Moving on

Recently I've come to the decision to no longer allow certain behaviors that are for adults and children. Without trauma dumping, My son and I are in a recovery period. No one in our lives understand that. It's always get over it and you're still held up on it. When "it" wasn't over until November of last year. Through protection orders and not really having any guidance or village when it comes to us, I'm definitely paving the way for our outcome to be bigger than our downfall was. No one knows yet, but we are moving away from everyone we know and everything we know. Somewhere where we can start fresh and continue. We're not running and that's all everyone is going to see it as. I have my baby's childhood in my hands and I'm determined to make it as good as I can before he's older. I don't know if/when we will tell everyone where we are but for now I know and understand that we need to get right and start new.

Feeling deflated at the start of weaning

My nearly 7 month old just started weaning 5 days ago. First 3 days gave her broccoli. She loved it, first 2 days she had 2 spoons, and 3rd day about 10 spoons! Yesterday I started on butternut squash and she didn’t look amused but had a spoon or 2 forcefully, then today she also had butternut squash but was forced she had one spoon then every spoon I tried after that she didn’t want it. Is this strange considering she liked the broccoli but the butternut squash is more sweet and yummy I thought she would have enjoyed it. I mixed both with my breast milk.
