Sleep Training

My LO is approaching 4 months. I have been considering sleep training, any thoughts or advice? It’s just me and him and I have no support and I really want to get back to sleeping so I don’t spend the whole day tired.

There is a major sleep regression around 4 months so any sleep training you did now would basically immediately be undone.

Also it's not really recommended under 6 months

My baby is 3 months and 2 weeks and is already going through the sleep regression, all the sleep we thought we had with her is now nonexistent 😭 and her routine has flown out of the window. I would say wait until after at least the end of 4 months preferably five - six months is apparently when they start a more predictable routine.

Hey! We didn’t necessarily sleep train my “LO”, but just stuck to a very rigid nap and bedtime routine. It can be quite hard sticking to it everyday, but so worth it in the long run. Also not every baby goes through a sleep regression, so go with what you think is best and works for you x

I think any type of formal sleep training may be too early but what I would recommend (something I wish I put more effort into as I’m also without support and still struggling with tiredness) is helping them learn how to self soothe. The sleep regression is the perfect time to do it- they wake frequently after sleep cycles craving the condition they fell asleep in I.e feeding, rocking, arms etc. and depend on that to return to sleep. Learning the self soothing skill by helping them fall asleep independently in their sleep space means when they wake up they’re still in the same environment they fell asleep in so will naturally soothe themselves back to sleep if the sleep pressure is there. Sleep deprivation sucks, here with you on that one (my girl just turned 7 months, has gotten better than the 4mo stage but still a battle). Good luck x

Girly, you are the parent. Ignore everyone else! Your sanity is important when looking after ya baby alone, speaking from experience! If you need to teach your baby to settle a bit more on their own than they do at the moment, then give it a go! I think I accidentally did it with my son, eventually in the night it became a big bottle before bed and less and less feeds in the night more of the dummy! My boy is a dream I will say, but if he was whinging I would wait to see if he was just dreaming or screaming, and this did help a lot in the end! My kiddo has had (touch wood) no sleep regressions, we’ve had a bit of a problem with the teeth but a bit of calpol and he’s fine. You are just as important as baby, so if you need some sleep then get some and if it means maybe parenting different then you do that too and see if it helps 🩵

Rigevidon & Breastfeeding

I’m 6 weeks PP and at my 6 week check was prescribed rigevidon but I’m exclusively breastfeeding and have just read that you shouldn’t take it while breastfeeding as it reduces your supply

Is this correct? The GP did ask how i was feeding my baby so was aware i was exclusively BF, anyone else taken it while breastfeeding?

8 week injections

My little girl had her 8 week check up and injections today, she’s spent most of the day asleep but when she is awake she’s just screaming like she’s in pain 😭 it’s absolutely heartbreaking to see, is this normal?!

She’s had calpol and 3 bottles but didn’t drink a lot of them.

Breastfeeding

I am currently combi feeding but wanting to just go to formula, is it okay for me to completely stop breastfeeding or could I express a couple of time a day and just give him a bottle? I’m unsure on what’s the best way to go about it but I want to try and completely cut out putting him on the breast if possible if I can?

Witching hour..

My little girl turned 7 weeks yesterday and for the last 3 evenings has screamed the house down for at least 3 hours each night.. she settles for a few minutes and then erupts again 😭 we’ve tried gripe water, infacol, nappy changes, a bath, bottles.. nothing helps! I feel awful for my 5 year old as I’m struggling to do everything he needs from me 😭. Not really sure what to expect from posting this.. kinda just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same? 😭
