Hi all, my 3 year old has learnt about Halloween and has shown an interest in wanting to go trick or treating this year.
The thing I’m concerned about is her collecting lots of sweets/chocolate that she may not necessarily be able to have and how you explain that they won’t be able to eat everything in one go?
Thankyou!

I just don’t take mine trick or treating cuz there is nothing good about collecting a bunch of teeth rotting candies from strangers .its setting up bad habits too young. Just cuz they’re interested doesn’t mean I have to follow through , they don’t know any better . 💚

Here, if you take it to the dentist office, they will buy it from you. I think it’s 10cents a pound. My 3 yo also wants to go, but she has older siblings who have been talking about it for weeks. We always pick through it and allow them an allotted amount, at maybe 2-3 pieces a week. In my experience with older kids, they end up forgetting about it, and I throw it away by the 2nd week in November.

I will be taking my 3 year old this year just for the experience. I will be taking out the sweets and he will only be having a couple of the chocolates a week. You can still take them for the experience and not give them all the sweets and chocolate. I will also be hiding the Halloween bucket with it all in so they will soon forget about it

We won’t take him because frankly I think it’s a bit weird taking sweets/ chocolate from total strangers! We teach them not to do it all year round so why is it suddenly okay on Halloween?
We’re going to a kids Halloween party hosted locally instead so he can still dress up but can play games etc instead and get a treat at the end x

I was quite surprised, we let our kids have a couple of sweets and after a few days they had forgotten about them. They stayed in the buckets for months and I just gradually ate them 😂

Let the child go trick or treating! You still have to go home and examine the candy. Once you do that just separate the candies you’ll allow her to eat and portion them out.

Is there family / friends that live close that they can go to? Then you could ‘control’ what they get.
Growing up I ‘went trick & treating’, but only to my grandparents every year.

Following!!

I just go to get candy for myself she can have alittle

I love Halloween, I've never considered not celebrating with my kids. We went to a trick or treat event at the local zoo and will be going trick or treating on our street with my 3 year old. Probably hit like 10 houses and let her have a few pieces that night then she can have one after dinner going forward
Help!! My partner and I can't choose between two nurseries.
We want our son to start nursery in January as working from home is becoming impossible now😅 he will be 16 months by then.
We have visited two and they both have their pros and cons but can't decide especially since nursery A was visited on a Saturday so didn't see staff and children in action.
I know the decision is up to us at the end of the day but if you saw this list below what would you choose?

Due to past problems me and my niece are not on good terms. Last night she was targeting me and only me with everything that i said even when it had nothing to do with the past problem just constant drama and smart ass remarks or insults. If i refuse to have contact with her that is taking my sister (Aunt) and my other nieces and nephew (cousins) away from my son. Last night i got very smart with her and it caught her off guard which gives me the impression shes not expecting me to react and me snapping is slowly building up. So I’m wondering if i should just be straight up and tell her how i feel and get my point across or break my sister and nieces and nephew heart to where they barely see my son or make it clear that I’m not gonna stay quiet and just let it boil over?

Hi, what do people do during half term and holidays for childcare. My kids are both under 5 and I’m planning to go back to work once they both start nursery. What do you do during school holidays? Babysitters?

Does anyone else get jealous of their partner for being able to leave the house and actually have adult conversations with other people, meanwhile your stuck at home don’t recognise yourself, because all you do is cook, clean and take care of the baby?
