Feeding from bottle (my breast milk)

I have a 13 day old and I have been able to make enough Milk to feed my baby. Im a first time mom, so i dont know alot about babies and I have a lack of exposure to them growing up.
I currently have the philips Avant natural bottle with the super slow nipple (size 1). I noticed that my daughter takes very little volume (varies from 10 to 50 ml max per feed). My health care provider told me we should feed her atleast 70 ml per feed now, because she is lagging behind her target weight.

We already adjusted the house temp to 21 to 23 celsius and consistently feed her during her window. Is there something i should try? Help! Photo for easier tracking 😀

Get a breast feeding specialist and if it still does not improve see if they can give you domperidone. You can also try making lactation cookies.

Change the bottle nipple or bottle brand because I tried Phillip avent and other bottles. I was doing ebf and my child didn’t like those bottles the Phillip avent is so slow barely any milk comes out even when you squeeze the test.

Evenflo, pigeon, Dr browns is better for breastfed babies. But for Dr browns try putting the milk halfway and do paced feeding because the flow is faster

Is she jaundice? Because a lot of newborns are jaundiced and they do not feed properly it makes them sleepy and not suck strong enough. My child was jaundiced and I had to give her milk with the syringe. I expressed milk in a cup and gave it to her with a syringe or spoon. You can do cup feeding too.

Because you are making enough milk but she’s not gaining enough so maybe your child is too sleepy and not latching properly

Philips Avent are a reeeeeaally slow teat and it can be quite hard work for newborns sometimes. I would try a different bottle such as lansinoh or any with a triangle shaped teat.

There's no need to warm the house up though, 21 is plenty!

I went ahead and bought 3 different sizes of the philip brand. It will come tomorrow! Hopwfully this works out. I havw been averaging 120 ml per pumping session now. But its just shocking that my baby only eats 70 ml MAX.

We have loved the Philips Avent bottles! I would increase the nipple size to a 2 or 3 and see if that helps?

Just be careful about changing the nipple speed if you’re wanting to breastfeed, stay the first level always. Increasing the speed of flow with make your baby prefer bottle over breast. Also, it is recommended to pace feed (baby actively works to eat, it doesn’t just flow out). People who are recommending faster flows are ill informed. Look into speech therapists and occupation therapists, either a feeding specialty (on social media to get some help). You may have to advocate for a referral from your doctor, be pushy.

What I did with my Nicu baby at the beginning to help him gain weight (he was 5lbs exact) was feed him from the breast for 20 minutes, then pump and give him pumped milk 1oz or so. To ensure he got enough. He gained weight great; born 3rd percentile and went up to 10-25% percentile. I stopped doing triple feeding as soon as he was back to birth weight, it was way too much but it did help.

I have large boobs and can’t get a latch!

Baby is 5 days old, my boobs are massive, haven’t been able to establish a latch at all, have had to express my milk and use a bottle (I know bottle is easier for baby than boob) is all hope lost for them to ever latch? :( he cries and cries when my nipple is in his mouth and just won’t latch.

Is anyone else struggling with this postpartum? 💔

Is anyone else struggling with this postpartum? 💔

I don't know if this is postpartum anxiety, emotional exhaustion, or years of hurt finally catching up with me. I'm just trying to understand if anyone else has felt this way.

Lately, I've been spiralling over things my MIL said to me almost four years ago. Things that happened years back, but somehow, my mind keeps bringing them up as if they happened yesterday.

I have the awareness to know that I'm spiralling. I know I can't change the past. But I feel like I have absolutely no control over my thoughts.

I keep replaying conversations, remembering how certain things made me feel, thinking about what I should have said, and wondering why those words still have so much power over me.

And the hardest part? I feel incredibly alone in all of this.

My husband has gone to work, and I find myself sitting with all these emotions, feeling like I have no one truly in my corner. I'm postpartum, I'm struggling, and I'm tired of having to be strong when all I really want is to feel understood and emotionally supported.

It's frightening how something from years ago can still hurt this much. I'm exhausted by my own thoughts, and I don't know how to make them stop.

I'm not looking for advice to forgive, forget, or simply move on. I just want to know if other mothers have experienced this — old wounds resurfacing postpartum, overthinking to the point of feeling physically overwhelmed, and feeling alone even when you're not technically alone in life.

Has anyone else been through something similar? Did postpartum make unresolved hurt feel much more intense? And what genuinely helped you get through it?

Please be kind. I'm reaching out because I need to know I'm not alone. ❤️

Giving a bottle a day

I’m one month into EBF but I’ve realised I’m probably never going to get to leave the house without my baby for more than an hour or two for a very long time. Has anyone that breastfeeds started to give a bottle a day for a little more flexibility? If so how does this work? I don’t know where to start with this - I don’t want to mess up the breastfeeding as it seems to be going well.

Pumping

So I’m not with my baby rn . My first born is currently in the hospital so I had to leave my almost 3 week old with her grandmother but I’ve been pumping since I haven’t been with her. Last night my last pump was at 10 pm and I was supposed to get up at 1 am to pump again but I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep since my son has been in the hospital so I slept thru my alarm and didn’t get up till 4 am I started pumping about 4:15 ish. Is it okay that I went that long in between pumping or should I try to power pump ? I make more than what my baby needs. She was drinking 1.5 ounces we just pushed her up to 2 ounces around 8pm last night but a typical pump I make about 3.5 ounces sometimes more

Period after birth

Hey mamas. I am 4 weeks postpartum and got my period. Or what I suspect is my period. Heavy bleeding, and stomach cramps. But I’m a google feen and looked it up. It says that it’s not typical to get your period 4 weeks postpartum if I’m combination feeding. I pump, and let her latch. Also supplementing with formula because I can’t keep up with her feedings sometimes.
I had a C-section on September 19th. I’m still healing in one specific spot that occasionally feels like tugging or pulling.
Has anyone else experienced this?
