Why is finding work so difficult with kids?

I have a 2.5 year old and a nearly 11 month old. Had multiple jobs since I was 18, now 29. Fully qualified in childcare which I did for 5 years but I really don't want to go back to that because the industry as a whole is awful. I've worked in warehouses, factories as well

My 2.5 year old goes to nursery twice a week and my youngest daughter will be starting in April and doing 3 days, my eldest daughter will be going up to 3 days once we get the funding after her birthday in March.

I havent worked in nearly 3 years, my partner works full time but they are at risk of losing their job and want to leave so I'm really stressing, we are also on UC and have been for a long time.

Earlier this year, I did an online college course in adult social care which I passed. My GCSE's were terrible when I left school and my maths is absolutely atrocious, even with that I started an evening course earlier this year but left because of anxiety and because I'm 99% sure I've got Dyscalculia.

I'm really not left with many options at all because no employers will take me on because of so many gaps in my CV, which are easily explained, but nobody will give me a chance.

I've also lost jobs in the past due to mental health, just feel like a shit parent and I've let my kids down especially as a lot of people keep telling me "I'm the most unemployable person they know".

In an ideal world, I'd love to work from home but you need money to be able to do that which is extremely tight

Any advice at all?

Data migration is a good avenue to look down.

You’re not the most unemployable person they know, because you want to put the effort in and work hard. You want a job and you’ve made the effort to get multiple qualifications. I would question how supportive people who say that sort of thing to you are, because it’s bound to knock your confidence which has already been knocked. Working from home might be the ideal but you might find it easier to look for in person roles, get back into work and then when you’re more settled look for work from home opportunities in a similar sector. Have you thought about childcare but not in a private nursery? Like maybe there’s an option to do childminding in your home, or to work for/with a local one who’s got lots of demand or wants to expand? Or go back to childcare for a while as the kids are small and money is a concern and maybe give yourself a target like “when partner is settled in new job I’ll focus on looking for my next opportunity”.

I’m a carer, work on a zero hour contract, they provide all training and care certificate you need, having done a social care course it could be a huge advantage, but I literally tell them the hours I can work weekly and they fit in as much work as they can! And as for being “the most unemployable person” don’t listen, you’re trying and willing to do the work, that’s a lot more than some people already!! Hope you find what you’re looking for🥰x

I feel quite similar with you as I have 2 little ones boy & girl, the eldest is already in nursery 3 days a week now (use to be 2) she got the 30 hour from the funding.
I was looking for work myself but timing and all. And also worked in childcare for 8years and it is the only thing I have done.
I say, if it is only that, better to do just part time and maybe chose shift work so your getting paid and working flexible hours you can work for.
It’s really hard finding work but just keep trying.
😊 xo

Getting back to running

I’m 8 weeks postpartum. Mamas who run, what did you do to ease back into running? I deferred my October half marathon to next year but still did the one mile that was part of the challenge (📸☺️) Per my doctor I walked it since I haven’t been doing any specific exercises to prepare my body for the impact of running again. I am walking daily and last week resumed weight and strength training. Looking to hear from others about run prep you did postpartum.

PPD

My PPD has been consuming me. This has been going on for about a year now. The providers I have spoken with go right to medication. I, personally, don’t want to take something where the side effect list includes “suicidal thoughts”
When I talk to family, they shrug it off.
Constantly hearing “oh that’s normal, it’s just your hormones.”

Curious.. if you have sex with your partner when you don’t want too because you barely had it in months and post partum. Is it bad that he almost guilts you into it? He feels uncomfortable if he knows I’m uncomfortable but deep down

He Knows I don’t want too. I feel bad because he’s really struggling with it but every encounter of intimacy he has to turn sexual and it’s literally making my skin crawl 🙃 so we literally never have sex and I don’t even wanna kiss him

Contraception

I’ve currently almost 4 months post partum, already have a nearly 2 1/2 year old. I was previously on the pill ( no break) it worked really well for me and I didn’t have a period, I don’t want to go back on it I don’t want to forget to take it as my brain is so busy now I probably will.
I have had my first depo injection to try it as another option but I already hate it, I think it’s making my hormones go all over the place, I’m having really bad mood swings, feel very stressed etc ( I know it also could be post partum) im also on my 10th day of my period with no signs of it stopping and I’ve never really had an issue with my periods being this long before. I’m confused with all of that and where my hormones are at the moment!
My question is, what’s other people experience with the depo injection during post partum time and what are people’s thoughts on the implant and the coil, im not keen on the coil personally but would still like opinions ☺️
