Ive been reading about top hat potties that used to be used before marketing pushed nappies so hard.
Ive heard there are a lot of benefits but dont know anyone that has tried it.
Have you tried top hat potties? How did you find it?

I know people it has worked for but they are full time stay at home parents. Daycare won't do it so anything you do will be undone then if you are going back to work (worth a crack if not!)

I haven’t used the top hat potty, but I know a bit about EC. I didn’t start that early, but my youngest was sitting on the potty from 16 months and we found that over time, and if we got the timing right, she was getting most of her wees and poops on the potty. We ditched the nappies at 18 months, so it was around 2 months of slowly building it up.
It all helps them to start understanding their own bodies, and normalising voiding over a potty as opposed to soiling themselves. You can teach signs alongside it too, so they can start to put it all together and tell you when they need to go, before they’re communicating verbally.
It’s often a longer process than potty training at a later age, and requires more observation (looking for baby’s cues) and prompting - but has the benefit of being out of nappies sooner!

Really helpful comments, thank you ladies
What age/ weeks is it okay to take a newborn out of the house?
Christmas is my favorite time of the year and my baby will be born 2 weeks before Christmas. It’s my family in Milton Keynes turn to host Christmas this year and I live in Surrey. I badly want to attend the Christmas party as I haven’t had a proper Christmas in about 5 years.
I don’t want to risk my baby being around that many people. I also would have to take a train there as I don’t drive and I don’t know how fussy the baby will be. I know I don’t have to go but I was just wandering if anyone has any tips or advice cause I would love to have a lovely Christmas with my new born rather than be alone at home with my husband😭

Does anyone else get jealous of their partner for being able to leave the house and actually have adult conversations with other people, meanwhile your stuck at home don’t recognise yourself, because all you do is cook, clean and take care of the baby?

Hi all, my 3 year old has learnt about Halloween and has shown an interest in wanting to go trick or treating this year.
The thing I’m concerned about is her collecting lots of sweets/chocolate that she may not necessarily be able to have and how you explain that they won’t be able to eat everything in one go?
Thankyou!

My mum always does - granted she always brings cooked food etc with her but it's annoying sometimes 😒
I'll share why it's annoying:
I work a job that requires me to drive a lot & by the end of the work day, I'm all drived out & don't wana get back behind the wheel again.
She has to take 2 buses to get to mine which means when she gets to mine, I've therefore gotta drive her back home when I wasn't planning on doing anymore driving for the rest of the day.
She says that she does it cuz I don't visit her much but when I do visit her, I can't relax at her house - I've gotta pee in the dark cuz she's watching her light bill, I can't run the tap for too long etc etc
When she comes round, she finds faults etc & it's just not entirely fun when she's around.
Am I a bad daughter for being annoyed by her turning up unannounced? This has happened twice over the past few weeks🙄 I get she wants to spend time with me & her granddaughter but still... 😬I feel guilty sometimes cuz I know one day I might regret feeling like this😕

Anyone who weaned their baby at 5 months, did you consult the health visitor first? My baby can’t take anymore milk during feeds without projectile vomiting and so we introduced banana puree and a bit of baby porridge and he’s so much happier and not vomiting so much obvs this is so much better for us as he would normally be wanting more milk but he can’t handle it and ends up projectile vomiting. I know they will try and convince me to wait so don’t really want to consult them but just wondering if anyone has started weaning and not told them? or had any issues with not telling them?
Thankssss
