Hi Mamas,Our baby is due very soon, and although I’m trying to focus on enjoying these last few weeks, I can’t help thinking ahead to what we’ll do when I return to work in a year’s time. We’ve been looking at nursery and childminder costs and trying to work out what would fit around our work schedules. My partner is a firefighter working a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern (including nights), and I work full-time, so finding the right childcare solution feels a bit complicated. One option we’ve been considering is an au pair. I actually worked as an au pair myself when I first moved to London 13 years ago, so I have really fond memories of the experience and the families loved me and treated me like a family member. For those of you who have had an au pair:* Would you recommend it?* What has your experience been like?* How much pocket money do you pay?* Is around £150 per week realistic these days?* What are the hidden costs or challenges that people don’t always think about? We haven’t bought our next home yet, but we’re planning to move to a 3-bedroom house so there would be a dedicated room for them.Donald me any question to understand our situation better!Thank you ✨

Would you send your child to a nursery that maxes out the ratio so for example if it’s in preschool room it’s 1:8. I know this is the legal ratio but that seams a bit chaotic to me or would you only send your child to a nursery that does less children per adult?
I have to go to work soon and have enrolled my lil boy in nursery. Though it seems to be good and everyone was really warm, I keep feeling anxious and imagining all kind of horrible scenarios in my head. How are you all coping with separation and nursery?

To any Massachusetts mommies. My ex-husband lowered child support by 50% and I now can no longer afford childcare. I am still on the waitlist for a Voucher, but I don’t know how long that will be and I really need my child in childcare. Are there any other government assistance programs for Massachusetts? That can help me out with childcare until I can get the Voucher? I’m really in a tough spot right now.

Has anyone applied for the 30 hours free childcare scheme? How long did it take for you to receive a response?

Hey y’all!! So I’m (hopefully) about to finally start my career as a teacher for next school year (elementary music). I got a really great offer and I already accepted the position and I’m able to sign my contract now. I start in early August, however, I’m due September 20th 🧍🏽♀️ I really want to tell the principal and HR just to keep them in the loop and not feel blindsided but I’m scared that my offer will be rescinded. Has anyone else (especially other teachers) been in a situation like this? How should I go about it?

Any leads on a daycare that may have space in their infant program or a short wait list for an October/November start
