At Peanut, we know that baby names are more than just a few syllables strung together - they're stories, roots, and dreams all wrapped into one. That’s why we’re always inspired by the mamas in our community who treat name-picking as both an art and a joy.

Today, we’re thrilled to introduce a special guest post by Julianne, a Peanut mama who’s turned her lifelong love of names into something beautiful. Whether you're deep in the baby-naming trenches or just love seeing what others are drawn to, Julianne's story and her lists are an absolute treat...

Julianne‘s Take on Names

So, a little about my name journey! I grew up really interested in genealogy. My mom’s whole side of the family has always been into tracing our roots. My great-aunt even published a few books on our lineage. Her side of the family originally came from England before settling in Australia in the late 1800s, and their history is incredibly well-documented.

Growing up, I spent hours poring over names of people I’d never met in family trees that spanned generations. I fell in love with the history, the mystery, and the sheer poetry of naming. And honestly? The obsession just grew from there!

When I started having children of my own, it got even more exciting - I finally had something of my own to name. Now that I’m not in the baby stage anymore, I’ve looked for other ways to express that same creativity. Enter: Peanut.

I stumbled into the baby naming forums and was instantly hooked. I genuinely didn’t know there were so many other name enthusiasts out there like me! Early in 2025, I started posting my own name lists, just for fun. I work in the emergency room, and I’m the only person in my role on the floor, so I don’t have a lot of camaraderie during the day. I needed an outlet to share all the beautiful, quirky, and fascinating names I was seeing.

At first, I felt a little self-conscious about posting so often, but people started commenting that they looked forward to my lists and found them helpful. That encouragement meant the world.

So, without further ado, here are the name lists I’ve pulled together so far this year!

Help

I was getting pretty painful period cramps and during those, I had painful lower back cramps. I had these on and off for like a few hours so from about 10:30pm to 1am?

I’ve had no show, or anything like that.

Is this braxton hicks or early labour pains?

Little girl turning herself sideways in next to me

My little girl tonight, has spun herself so she is lying sideways in her next to me, making me panic!

Is this normal at 4.5 months, do I just lie her back normally/vertically?

Labour??

I’ve had on/off mild period cramps since 9 last night, very irregular and very mild, but I just had one that woke me up. My waters haven’t gone and nor has my mucous plug… but could this be a sign that it’s close?! I’m 40+3 and desperate to meet her!

Ways to induce labor naturally

Hi All! FTM, Entering week 40 and no signs of labor, no dilation yet. Please share tips and ways to induce natural labor. Induction is already scheduled on week 41 but don’t want to go through that process.

Early waters/pre term labour?

I can’t get checked until later today unfortunately. I can’t tell if I’m leaking/starting early. I definitely think I’m having braxton hicks yesterday and today.. i have some pain in my back but she is quite low down so hoping it’s just pressure, baby was a little quieter yesterday but she’s back to more normal movements today, but my underwear just seems to get so wet, especially after going to the bathroom. And I honestly can’t work out the smell, I’m pretty sure it’s just discharge/urine leaking but there’s that worry in my mind a little. Are there any other ways to know/check if it could be the start of it all?

Groin pain?

So I’m 34 weeks with my second and for a couple days now I’ve had terrible groin pain so bad that sometimes I can’t even walk or shift a certain way or I feel like the baby is just gonna rip out of my groin… I definitely was uncomfortable towards the end with my last pregnancy but this is just absolutely awful. Is anyone else experiencing this? Or anything that helps?? It’s making it so hard to still care for a toddler when I can barely move without pain..
